I just had my interview today and it was anything but conversational. My alum was pretty intense with the questions. Still hoping for the best :(

congrats novian and eminent! I am just starting the process and you guys are already done!
what kind of examples did you include for columbia essays? professional or personal?
All my essays talk about my professional experiences...I am not able to paint a complete picture of my candidacy. I looked at EC section of the application and we have only 400 characters :(
Any suggestions anybody?

Wow! Must be the earliest admits this season. Congratulations to everyone who made it! Not applying to CBS, but cant avoid the feeling of communal joy on hearing of an admit :) .

Thank you everyone for the kind wishes. I hope to see plenty more admits this season!

cozmo8: The extracurricular section is difficult. I only listed my ECs there, with no descriptions. As far as essays, I used professional examples for #1 and #2 and a personal one for #3 (this was on last year's app, this year, I only had to submit 1 essay as a reapplicant). I really think that you can use a personal or EC example for essay #2 or #3 -- you will just have to be creative and make it fit in.

- include question prompt in file?
- single spaced/double spaced
- Name/Application Period on top?

Hi, I was wondering how binding is the ED commitment? If one gets in, does he/she have an option of not accepting the offer?

Mine were single spaced and had the question prompt at the top. The application system will automatically put your name in the header, so you should not duplicate this effort.

i think i read in the BW forums somewhere that you can renege but its not looked kindly upon.

Congrats to the admits!

On applying ED and then not attending. If you don't have a good reason then you'll definitely lose your 6K deposit. If you have a reason then you can perhaps get out of the agreement. I remember in HS a girl in my class got into Columbia for ED but then didn't receive enough financial aid to attend. She called the financial aid office and got out of the ED agreement without paying anything.
