Congrats Novian!!! Time to start a facebook group :0)

Thanks! From the looks of it, the school already has a group set up for it that's run by somebody internal (but I could be wrong). Very excited to begin my graduate education...now totally bummed I have to wait almost a year, but still VERY nice to have this wrapped up. I wanted to be set before Christmas, turns out I'm set before October! Again, thanks to all the contributors here who have helped me and given me new insights. This forum has been tremendously helpful, and I hope to contribute more in the coming months.

I'm planning to visit New York City on October 12-13. I was hoping to visit both CBS and NYU. I was curious to know if anyone had participated in the "Host Program" offered by CBS? If so, how did you like spending time with a student 1-1? Should I just visit a class on my own? I'm also looking into the student chat and information session that evening.... Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Well, my app is in, the rest is up to the CBS gods. I will now proceed to tape my fingers into a permanently crossed position and start waiting...

triple5soul,

I visited through the host program. My student host was very helpful. I sat in on a couple of classes with her and she even introduced me to the professors. So I would highly recommend the host program. Also, take advantage of the info session and student chats. The more you research, the better your essays will be. And it doesn't hurt to show your committment to the school.

Conversely, I didn't have a great Host Program experience. My host didn't have class the specified day, and I received the assignment too late to find someone who did. However, my host did put me in contact with another host and piggybacked to the class of my choice.

Nevertheless, I came away loving Columbia and would probably apply ED if I had to do it all over again (knocking on wood that I don't!). I feel like there is a great balance between being a great university and being in New York.

Count me in as well for ED. Submitted my app 2 days ago, but apparently my recommender's status is still showing up as "Starting" and the status is incomplete. Hmmm.... six more days.

This could be a dumb or a smart question - my first cousin started her CBS FT MBA this Fall. Should I mention her in the application section where they ask -

Has anyone in your family attended Columbia University?

I would if I were you, it can't hurt, but it probably won't help as much as one would initially think. Buty I would say cousins is a close enough relative to you.
