The Columbia website says they begin reviewing applications for RD in January. I thought it meant that if you submit in early January you are better off, but I'm not sure if they review apps for RD before that. Anyone have more clarity?

It is rolling, but they don't start reading it until jan 6...so the earlier you get it in, the earlier it is in the queue to read...They also said that they receive 80% of their apps for RD on jan 6th, so you are better off sending it as soon as it is ready before that date.
This rolling decision but "don't read until January" doesn't really make sense to me. I don't understand why they begin reading application and admitting students before the ED deadline but wait until after the RD deadline to read the rest of the applications?
Incidentally, my application status for RD says "Your application is now being printed and prepared for review." Its interesting they would print it this early.
i think they take piles and stack 'em by the day submitted within ED or RD. so its quite possible your app (and mine) has been printed and just waiting in line. the day it moves to the next stack that adcom looks at i think is when the status will move to "in review".
Hi, What is the gap an applicant can have between the interview invite and the original interview? I understand this might depend on the interviewer's schedule. But ideally, can the applicant plan it after a week or 10 days from the day the interview invite has been received?
CBS asks that you schedule your interview within 2 weeks of receiving the invite. I scheduled mine 10 days after invite, due to my schedule and my interviewer's. If your alum is ok with it, you can schedule for whenever you'd like, within 2 weeks.
CBS invited me to interview, just got the update. I was interviewed last year and then WL-ed. Usually they don't interview reapps I've heard. I hope this is a positive development. Fingers crossed.

I've submitted my ED in mid september, and my application just got switched to under review... how long does it usually take to hear something from here?
