Question - Do you get prompted to do the Kroll or can you initiate it yourself? I just sent in my deposit last week and tried to go on the Kroll site through the admitted students site but it didn't recognize my e-mail/password. Any insight??

I believe it becomes available in your To-Do list after you get an email confirming the school received your deposit.

Yea, if I hear any more complaints about people's financial awards "not being that much money" I'm going to have a fit. It's still MONEY!! If you aren't happy with it, give it to me

Oh yeah -- I'll keep on asking for more up until free-ride status but I'm more than happy to take whatever they'll give me, raid the "take a penny/leave a penny" tray in Uris Deli, beg in subway stations, etc.

I'm just the messenger but under the "Apply for Need Based Scholarships" portion this is what it says:

You may be eligible to receive scholarship aid according to the following guidelines:

a. If eligible, federal and state loan/grant programs are to be utilized as a source of financial support.

b. Columbia Business School will supplement student contribution and federal and state loans and grants where there is evidence of exceptional need. To determine need, the Financial Aid Office evaluates your income, assets and prior educational debt.

So it seems like first they try federal loans and grants, then if there's still demonstrated need, then Columbia will supplement that amount with need based scholarships.

I think the only merit based awards are the fellowships that should be getting released soon, but I may be completely wrong.

My scholarship is awarded to "a student in financial need interested in finance." Not sure if that makes it a "needs based" scholarship, or whether being in need is merely a necessary tenet of candidacy.

same. Just tried logging onto the Kroll site using the .edu email I just received and could not log into the site. Received the below message:
"The Login and Password does not match one on File."

Anyone have the same problem?

That's the exact same thing that happened to me. I have since called Kroll and they said CBS hadn't sent them my information yet....

Hey guys - for the career changers, the "poets" in the crowd, or those concerned about managing your finances while in b-school, you may want to reserve a spot in this webinar on Thursday night. It looks like a good way to brush up on some stats and get some tips on how to strike the right balance of using loan funds to pay rent vs. buying bottle service.

Hey soon-to-be classmates! Just wondering if there is anyone on here who is currently or was formerly in banking or VC/PE in the LA-area? I was hoping to ask a few questions. Would really appreciate a pm or reply if that's you!
