Folks,

Got an interview invite a few days ago. Not gonna lie... have not even slept, or ate properly since last Thursday. Cant focus on anything but NYU. D-day is April 7th. Could someone kindly touch base regarding the interview format?

Me: 25, 3.62 GPA in Finance and Economics, Military background, plus experience as a staff financial analyst at a fortune 100. Currently pursuing MS-Statistics. Will be 2 classes Short of graduation this fall, which I plan to complete part time after my MBA.

Best,
Devang

Devang,

The interview format is pretty similar to other schools'. Clear Admit's interview reports and this website (https://www.adammarkus.com/preparing-for ... interviews) really helped me prepare. Make sure you have your "Why Stern" story solid, along with how you will contribute to the Stern class. My interviewer also asked how I would decide on a school if I was accepted all of the schools applied to, so make sure you have an answer for that as well. Honestly, the interview was pretty standard. PM me if you have more questions. Good luck!

The thing that separates Stern from most other schools is that the interview is not blind. Your interviewer will be intimately aware of every detail of your application, and they will have specific questions for you. So it helps to really spend some time refamiliarizing yourself with every aspect of your app.

The questions are very standard - have a good answer to why Stern, a strong career plan, and a strong 'back-up career' plan (for some reason they ask this a lot).

Best of luck!

arthi9487, akueldo, nicelystupid

Thank you so much for your guidance. arthi9487: I really appreciate the link that you shared, and yes, it really does seem pretty helpful.

akueldo: Thank you, even I've heard a lot that they really want candidates who have a business plan, as well as a solid back up plan.

nicelystupid: I applied back in January. I wish you all the very best to get an invite. I'm sure you'll nail it. From what I've gathered.. WL is a good sign that you're still on the radar.

I keep on hearing about the April 1st deadline day...can anyone provide some color as to the significance of that? i was on the website and didn't see anything.

Reason I ask is that I am waitlisted (pre-interview), and am currently working on finishing up some updates and send it over ASAP, but am wondering if I need to work to get that done before April 1st.

If you applied round 3, I think you don't need to worry about the April 1 deadline anymore since you've already received your initial note. The committee has yet to make a final decision on you. All the very best!

Ya, many people have received their results but I don't want to think that it's a ding :(
The appstat page shows that the application is under final review and the results would be declared in 3 weeks. So I guess we might know the decision by tomorrow.

This thread is making me nervous :/

Although, my interviewer said that I could expect an answer in "three to four weeks", hence nothing is lost yet.
