m = \(\frac{9}{25}\) > which is around \(\frac{1}{3}\)

w = \(\frac{15}{32}\) > which is around \(\frac{1}{2}\)

Together m & w would constitute around \(\frac{5}{6}\), so the remaining c would be around \(\frac{1}{6}\) which is far less than m & w

Increasing order: c, m w

Answer = A

One can solve this one using 2 methods.

Method 1
- See the way PAresh did it. I've solved this the same when saw this problem in the test.

Mehod 2
\(\frac{9}{25} = \frac{54}{150}\) and \(\frac{15}{32} = \frac{75}{150}\), so \(1-\frac{54}{150}-\frac{75}{150}\), so it's evident that c<m<w

Ans e wmc

w = 15/32 ~0.4
m = 9/24 = 0.36

c = 1 - (w + m) ~ 0.24


so w m c in descending order another :oops: everything I do after 1 AM I seem to miss

ascending: c m w..

Answer a - c, m, w

m ~ 1/3
w ~ 1/2

and m+w+c = 1 hence c ~ 1/6

Hence increasing order would be c -> m -> w

w is approx = half

m is approx = 0.4
thus sure

a is the answer increasing order ( c<m<w)

Yes, decimals work faster than common denominators here. E would be correct if the question asked for DESCENDING order.

m = 9/25 = 0.36
w = 15/32 = 0.4

Hi,

Since we are going to use a lot of percent to decimal to fraction conversion, best is to convert in to % and compare.

Well lets see how the fractions fair in terms of "%"
so "m"= \(\frac{9}{25}\) is 36%.
w= \(\frac{15}{32}\)< \(\frac{15}{30}\)

\(\frac{1}{30}\) is close to 3.33%

\(\frac{15}{32}\) is 46%

so c =100-(36+46)= 18%

19<36<45
c<m<w

We can see w = 15/32 is almost one half, and m is definitely smaller but sizable. This gives no room left for c to be greater than one half, therefore w must be the greatest. Looking at the choices we are left with A.

Hi Paresh,

Please explain how 15/32>1/2
15/30=0.5 and 15/32=0.46....Also, if we have the same numerator and the denominator keep on increasing that I'll make the number smaller...right?
