Prediction, the hallmark of natural sciences, appears to have been possible by reducing phenomena to mathematical expressions. Some social scientists also want the power to predict accurately and assume they ought to perform the same reduction. But this would be a mistake; it would neglect data that are not easily mathematized and thereby would only distort the social phenomena. According to the PowerScore CR, the conclusion is " this would be a mistake" ...why? I think it's the first sentance: prediction, the hallmark.....mathematical expressions. Thanks,

Thanks, the first sentence is not a conclusion , it is a fact and says how the process of prediction has been reduced in natural science using math.

first sentence is a premise, so is the 2nd which lead you 3rd sentence as conclusion.
