for all hopefuls out there without an invite yet like yours truly, feel free to join me in believing in the following: according to last year's forum, ~27% of R1 applicants reported an invite; to date, only 10% of applicants on this year's forum have reported invites (read: if you've been invited to interview and haven't updated your status, please kindly do so at your earliest!
). if we factor in a time delay between receiving the email invite notification and changing one's application status on GC, I *think* we can deduce that half of the invites have gone out and the other half will be released through next week...
(while i have the floor) regarding any intel we can glean from available interview slots: we have no idea (or do we?) if an "unavailable" slot is due to another applicant choosing the slot or to MIT not opening the slot for choosing. as you can tell, I'm
glass-half-fulling my current situation and believe that the number of unavailable slots could be a mix of those taken-by-other-candidates AND those not-yet-opened-by-MIT!!
good luck to all!
