Another angle to my question "are interviews mandatory?" which I failed to convey, was wondering if it is common (or even possible) for applicants at SOM to be admitted without an interview? Or is every single admit only given after an interview with SOM? Are there any #'s on this statistic?

As far as I know, you need an invite to get in. I haven't heard of anyone getting admitted without one. To jump off of this - SOM has not historically re-interviewed those who've interviewed in the last year. I don't know if this is still the case, but this was the case when I first applied 5 years ago. Scariest thing about finals? Realizing that a full 8th of your MBA experience is over. ETA: The policy has probably changed in the last 5 years, but I do not know for sure what their process looks like. Specific questions on interviewing should go to the Admissions Office - I asked this exact question of the Associate Director who ended up calling me with my acceptance.
