Hello, R1 applicants,

First of all, Good Luck to all of you!

Has anyone been contacted by first year student in EWMBA program? I was contacted by a first year student saying that the admission office mentioned that I applied for HAAS. What does this mean? I fully appreciate their help and kindness. I am just wondering if this is common for applicants.

Some students volunteer to help out admissions. So, some people will get a follow up from a current student to see if you have any questions that need answering.

What kind of applicants will be contacted by the first year students? totally random? Will the process impact the admission process?
When does admission committee realse offers for R1? Feb, 7th? won't be earlier than that?

thank you.

Random as far as I know. I've only been helping with the information sessions, not contacting applicants. So, I don't really know what's going on there.

I did have a student email me last year a couple weeks before the decisions came out. I responded and he never emailed me back. I still tease him about that.

Admissions usually starts calling people the day before the official announcements come out. It may not be the same this year, but they've done it the past couple years.

Hello All,

I submitted my app for R2 on 12/30. Finally got some update today and received an invite for class visit and interview for March 8. Anyone else got an invite?

When I check the online status of my application towards the bottom it says this:

Quantitative Proficiency Requirement:
College-level Mathematics: Complete
(if blank, then not yet reviewed.)

Can someone tell me what this means? Does it mean if I get an admission I don't have to take any additional quantitative prerequisite courses?

Hey guys...good luck to everyone!!

Also did you use any professional service for essay help on Haas essays. I know the services available but want to know if anyone amongst the 66 people listed here used them. Just want to know how long it took ya with some help.

In one of my class visits, I was explicitly told by one of the adcom members that they can sniff out applications prepared by admissions consultants. They said that the key is to be honest in your essays and write what it is you want the school to know about you, not what they want to hear.

Also once you have your resume ready, I'd suggest to use the free 30 minutes of consulting that a lot of the admissions consulting companies offer and have them review your resume. I found it very useful and even in that short period of time they gave me tips that helped me. Just make sure that you are well prepared before talking to them. Have your answers to short-term/long-term goals, why MBA, why now etc. ready.

Decision day for R1 is coming up and I'm getting very anxious. I heard a few applicants mentioned they received "feedback" about their applications. Does that mean that if you don't get admitted, the admission committee or interviewer is open to providing you with feedback on what you can do differently next time?

Yup, you are good as far as the quantitative prerequisite is concerned.

Yes, if you get dinged then the Adcom will send you an email regarding a 'feedback' session. The feedback session happens after the admissions process is over, so its usually in Aug/Sep and it's a 30min review with one the AdCom folks. They go through your entire application and point out strengths and weaknesses and what you can improve on.

Invites are going out for R2, huh? Well that's all she wrote for me then, haha.

Did anybody who was dinged in the past use these feedback sessions with the adcom, and were they helpful?

Looks like you and me.

Has your application status changed or is it still in decision? Mine is still in decision but I doubt it's going to change in the next 2 weeks.

Yeah, mine still looks the same too. The only status change my profile had was for the math requirement.

Mine is still "file under review". What does this mean? I have never seen my status is "in decision" or anything else? What is the sign here?
Thank you.

Sorry for the confusion. Poor wording on my part. Mine is still "file under review" as well.

I've been lurking here for awhile. I applied R1 and interviewed in early December. I received an email a few hours ago from Haas admissions about an invitation to a Financial Aid chat. Did anyone else get this email? I don't want to read too much into it...
