Happy New Year, everyone! I hope Haas admissions is back from the holidays and digging through all the applications that are stacked on top of ours, haha.

The program office is closed until Monday. I'd imagine admissions is on the same schedule. So, I wouldn't expect to hear anything this week.

Since UCLA FEMBA waitlisted me in their R1 in late December, I took a quick stab today at the GMAT again
hoping that Santa will give me a 750 as a late Christmas present, just kidding on that one ;-)

I again got a 700 score, though Quant was 12 percentage points up and Verbal down by 13%(I bet it's the
SC which brought it down!).

Now with the R2 deadline still ~ 3 weeks away and the fact that a lot of engineers(like me) are waitlisted in R1,
would it hurt to report the new score to Haas right away and proactively ask for my application to be waitlisted
until the R2 decision date so that both my GMAT scores are considered?

The pros is see is that I have scored > 80 percentile on both the sections now, although in different attempts
spaced 2 1/2 years apart. Of course, the con is the GMAT may not be a differentiator in the final decision of
the adcom and might just delay the destined(either way ...). At this point, I am inclining towards a request
for a deferral ... It would be great to have some advice on this one!

By the way, any idea whether the GMAT verbal or quant score is more highly weighted at Haas? I had a 77%
on the quant the last time around, not sure if that would have a bearing on the decision ...

Well that's a very impressive score, maalage, congrats! We'll need to hear from the Haas experts in the forum as to whether or not the adcom simply "checks the box" for a 700+ score, but such a high score certainly can't hurt you. I think you should update Haas on this new development and see what they say about rounds/deadlines/deferment on their own.

I found out that I had a financial hold on one of my transcripts, so now that we are past the 6-week window, I am going to follow-up with admissions on Monday to see if they received theirs before the hold was pinned to my file. I noticed that the math requirement part of my application has been updated to "complete", so I know my file has at least been touched by somebody... fingers still crossed for that coveted interview invite.

Hello, When is your math requirement changed into "complete"? I was interviewed in early December, but the match requirement status is blank. Nobody has touched anything there since early Dec. Thank you.

Damn-- I feel like I missed this interview window. I don't know what order things are usually updated.

My math status was changed some time during the last week, but that was the first/only movement I've seen on that status page since submitting on 11/20.

Does anyone know if Haas has ever allowed EWMBA students to pursue a dual degree program? I am specifically interested in the MBA/MPH dual degree. I applied to the EWMBA in round 1 and interviewed in mid-December. I plan to discuss the dual degree possibility if I am accepted, and I was wondering if anyone else has already looked into it.

Thanks.

As far as I know, you have to get admitted in to the full time program to be able to do the MBA/MPH program. There are funding issues between the full time and part time programs. Since the part time program is self funded and the full time isn't, they legally can't mix many of the classes.

Thanks HaasPlease! I emailed adcom and they said that they are willing to take in the new score whilst
keeping the decision date as the R1 date. And good luck to you on getting the interview invite! Hope it
comes soon!

Hi Packet,
Thanks for the info. I will discuss with the adcom next time I talk to them and see if there are any options. I am really looking forward to the decision date!

I interviewed in mid-December and am anxious to hear back. I think the interview went well except there were one or two questions where I would have liked a redo. I did see that my quantitative requirement did change to "complete - college mathematics". I'm hoping that is a good sign as I was worried that my quant score was too low and well below the 75% percentile but it looks like my calculus course in freshman year was sufficient enough for them. Does anyone know if they usually send out results earlier than the Feb 7 date listed on the website?

Good luck everyone!

Are there any applicants who applied in Round 1 that haven't recieved an invitation to interview? I'm getting pretty worried since I haven't recieved any notification since i submitted my application. It's been showing under review since mid December. :\

Last year they called the people they admitted the day before hand. From what I remember, they didn't get all the way through the list though. So, some people got called the day decisions came out.

Hey guys...good luck to everyone!!

Kudos to you folks for applying and getting interview calls. In my case I am still struggling to get a good GMAT score. I am almost giving up on applying this year. I havent even started on my essays yet. I changed jobs recently and on top of that I had to take care some personal things of which took a few months away.

Last year Haas had a Round 4 - May 1st deadline. Do you guys know if there is going to be R4 this year too?

Also did you use any professional service for essay help on Haas essays. I know the services available but want to know if anyone amongst the 66 people listed here used them. Just want to know how long it took ya with some help.

Thanks for reading.

Good luck!

They have for the past couple years, but I wouldn't count on it. If you can possibly avoid the 4th round, I would. There aren't many spots left and you have to be a much stronger candidate to get a spot by that point.

I wrote them myself. There's nothing particularly tricky about the Haas essays. They just want to get to know you and see what your motivations are. As long as you can write a half way decent narrative, you should be fine.
