Re: Tuck (Dartmouth): Class of 2016- Calling all applicants! [#permalink]
Probably a silly question, but from what I've read we can interview before we finish our application correct?

Yes Pallmall, you can interview before submitting your application. This is actually pretty standard as your application asks you if you did a self initiated interview and when it was performed.

They only ask that you send them a resume within 5 days of your interview.

Good luck everyone!

I wanted to interview on Oct 5th, but the schedule is only up until Oct 4th....bummer! Seems like they will release more dates.

@PallMall, yes, and it's even ADVISABLE. We did a post on this two weeks ago (geared towards Duke but same concept).

Yup they log it and then when you do submit your application they will put it together.

Edit: Slightly strange question, for those that have visited Tuck any advice on where is the best place to stay?

Domotron - I stayed at the Super 8 in White River Junction. It is kind of crappy, but it is cheap, it is close (5-10 minutes from campus), and it gets the job done :)

Same..Anyone else able to see October dates?

Change your time frame to 6 months from 3 months - the rest will show :)

October 4th is the last day up.

Yeah, I would not rec the Super 8 in White River Junction. Also, I don't agree with the Super 8 being 5 to 10 min from campus - esp. if you aren't 100% sure of where you are going.

Depends on your budget though.

Here are my recs: (time estimates: I tried to be conservative)
*Maybe someone can add the links - when I tried to post with the links it said I don't have enough posts yet (sorry, new around here)

Hanover Inn
In Hanover right on the Green. From there you can be at Tuck in 10 to 15min walking
Recently went through a renovation.

Sixth South Street Hotel
In Hanover - about 3 minute walk from here to Hanover Inn - say maybe 15 to 20min walk to Tuck
Modern, new build.

Courtyard Lebanon
Just outside of Hanover and just past the DHMC. Maybe 10 to 15min to drive and park at Tuck
Good Courtyard property - well maintained.

Agreed. It depends on your budget. You can stay at one of those hotels for 280-330 dollars a night or you can stay at the super 8 for 60 dollars a night. For me, I did not intend to spend much time at the hotel since most of the time I was going to be on campus, but if a nice hotel room is a priority for you, then by all means, cough up the extra money and stay at the Hanover Inn.

Yes. Like I said it depends on your budget. There is obviously an upside to being in Hanover to get to see the town more.

The prices for the ones I listed fall in the 100 to 220ish range except for possibly the Hanover inn.

I have even stayed at the courtyard Lebanon for 89+tax etc. granted that isn't the norm, but that property is usually in the 120 to 160 range.

Hi, I'm new to this site.

I booked the Hanover Inn. I wanted to book somewhere less expensive near White River Junction but I worry about the traffic in the morning. Plus I'm making the trip a vacation.

Traffic isn't bad.

If you are doing 91-->wheelock-->thayer drive from white river junction. likely only run into some back up on wheelock in the AM.

Going on 120-->wheelock from courtyard lebanon there could be some traffic as you get closer to town on 120 then wheelock in the AM.

or you can call the taxi. It charges $10 only and you don't have to go through the hassle of finding a parking - please keep in mind that you have to park very far from the building and then take the shuttle.

(deleted my original response)

just looked up on the Tuck website for what they suggest parking-wise.

you are correct on the parking situation, it is at dewey.

deleted my response as it is probably best to not encourage my no-longer-correct parking advice. (parking situation on campus must have changed as there used to be other options)
