Yep. And I would be lying if I said I was not thinking about it a lot over the weekend.

I don't know why the Columbia process is bugging me so much. I think it is because a number of people who applied the same time as me (6 January) already heard.

Anyway, I doubt there is long to wait for us. Best of luck guys!

@dcr buddy! a new day has come! have you heard from CBS?? fingers crossed

No news yet. I guess there are a lot of people keen to hear who applied 6-8 January. Best of luck guys!

Hi guys. I submitted my app on 6 January, i.e. just in time for the Merit Fellowship deadline.

Looking back through the thread, it seems like a number of people saw their status updated from logging into the website rather than receiving an email (and maybe those who got an email first might have had their status updated earlier if they looked?). So, now I am logging into the site at least 2-3 times a day!

Can anyone who got dinged tell me if the status update is in the first page (right after you log in) or do you have to click through to the full application? If the latter, is it obvious where the ding letter is (somebody else posted that they missed it the first time)?

Slightly neurotic questions but you know how it is by this stage. Starting to get nervous... :)

i just got dinged so let me tell you - you have to log in, then click into the application to see that "there's a status update to your application".

I just got dinged but best of luck to you!

Since I've been constantly refreshing this thread myself, I figured I'd share another timeline for those following:

Applicated submitted: 12/21/13
Last recommendation submitted: 1/5/14
Invited to interview: 1/27/14
Interviewed/feedback submitted: 1/31/14

Now waiting... Good luck to all!

Hi Azowu,
Sorry to hear about your ding. If you remember what time of day you applied on the 8th, would you mind sharing? Just wondering since I imagine that hundreds of applications came in on the 8th, and I didn't submit mine until minutes before the deadline. So I'm thinking that a 10 hour difference in submission time on the 8th could be equivalent to a 10 day difference (in terms of an application's place in the adcom's queue) during a less busy period like December. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've just been stalking this thread, so I figured I'd share my timeline.

Applicated submitted: 1/3/14
Invited to interview: 1/24/14
Interviewed/feedback submitted: 2/3/14

Now I'm waiting to hear back. Seems like it could take 2 days or 2 weeks.

Edit: admitted today!

Congrats! Did you get an email or do you have to log in to your application?

I submitted 6 January and still to hear anything. I don't mind waiting but logging into my application every few hours is distracting!

Thanks! :)

I got an email...I wasn't expecting it either (didn't realize invites would start rolling in today, especially given the weather), so it sort of made my day!

I'm sure there are still plenty that need to go out though...

I just checked the website and found an update - dinged. No email yet.

I submitted my application on 1/8 maybe 2 or 3 hours prior to the deadline.
Good luck everyone!

Re: Columbia: Calling all applicants - Class of 2016 [#permalink]
Hi guys,

congrats to all those already admitted/invited to interviews, well done! (And fingers crossed for the rest)

I had a question regarding the format of the letters of recommendations your recommenders have used for Columbia as it seems a bit "non-standard" to me. The official guidelines from Columbia are:

We ask recommenders to consider the following guidelines when writing their recommendations:
(Not more than 1000 words)
The applicant’s performance.
Strengths and weaknesses of the applicant.
The applicant’s interpersonal skills.
The applicant’s written and spoken communication skills.
How does the applicant accept constructive criticism or handle conflicts?
How effective are the applicant’s interpersonal skills in the workplace?
The most important thing you would like the Admissions Committee to know.

I was wondering what is the standard/best way to approach this. How did your recommenders do it?
Did they answer each question individually (e.g. similar to LBS or INSEAD) or did they wrote one large letter touching all those points?

Many thanks in advance, much appreciated!
