A. exhibit, which thereby activates - no clear referent for "which"
B. exhibit, in turn an activation of - highlighted portion wrong.
C. exhibit, and it will activate - no clear referent for "it".
D. exhibit and thereby activate - CORRECT
E. exhibit which, as a result, activates - implies it is the exhibit that activates.

(Edited so that my answer choice doesn't show up when you look at the question. I've found this very distracting especially when it's the first answer to a question.)

I am beginning to think E on this one. As GMATT73 pointed out, (d) indicates that the encouragement activates the animated functions. However, it is the touch that activates the animated functions. Hence I think its E

no way it's E... Straight D... remember the ellipsys... to touch and [to] activate... E says the exhibit activates, whereas it is the visitors

I think you misinterpreted my meaning. It's the visitors that "activate" the functions.
