Hello GMATClub contributors!!
Sound off if you are applying to the USC Marshall MS in Marketing this year!!
I am a current student at the USC Marshall MS in Marketing Program, expected to graduate in May 2017. I would be more than happy to provide tips or answer any questions that you may have on the program and its admissions.
My first tip: applying early may increase your chance to be admitted. The program admits students based on the submitted applications per round. Typically, a lot of applications are received in the later rounds (Dec onwards). This means that you have more competitions if you are submitting your application in the later rounds. Nevertheless, it is always best to submit your application when you are ready to submit it. Don't rush your application and bomb your essay or GMAT scores. Apply when you feel that your application is the strongest.

Hi! I have two questions for you: 1) does USC have to receive the official gmat scores before the deadline? or can we send the unofficial ones in the meantime? I know they require both, but it's unclear whether we have to send both unofficial and official scores before the deadline of a certain round (say november 30). 2) I have a 3-year undergraduate degree from a european university. This is equivalent to a four year degree in an american one right? do you know of anyone not getting accepted because they did a three year bachelor instead of a four year one? Thank you in advance!

Hi saracornaggia,
To answer your questions:
1) does USC have to receive the official gmat scores before the deadline? or can we send the unofficial ones in the meantime? I know they require both, but it's unclear whether we have to send both unofficial and official scores before the deadline of a certain round (say november 30). I am not 100% sure on this one, but as far as I know, before the MS in Marketing admission committee receive an application, it will be reviewed by the graduate admission system. I believe that the review by graduate admission system will check if your reported GMAT score will match the record they receive from GMAT. It's safer to take the GMAT test around 3 weeks before the deadline. GMAT is pretty quick on sending the score report to universities.
2) I have a 3-year undergraduate degree from a european university. This is equivalent to a four year degree in an american one right? do you know of anyone not getting accepted because they did a three year bachelor instead of a four year one? It is equivalent to a four year degree although universities would usually value those who take a fourth-year/honors. The USC MS in Marketing in particular encourage those with 3 year degree to take post graduate diploma or a year certificate before applying. I do not know anyone not getting accepted because of a three year degree, but I, myself, am a graduate of the University of Melbourne (3 year degree). When I got accepted, the MS in Marketing team needed to seek a letter of permission from the Dean or something along this line so that I can pursue my MS in Marketing degree.

Hi! I'm a final round applicant who was invited to interview on Monday, 3/13 but I haven't heard back about my interview time! What are you thoughts on giving admissions a call tomorrow (Friday) afternoon if I still haven't heard back to make sure nothing got lost in translation? I wouldn't want to do anything to negatively impact my application by being too pushy.
My experience is for MBA but the scheduling date itself had time slot assigned to it. I mean, you choose a specific time slot on a specific date. If it wasn't the same, I am not sure of the procedure for MSiM.

I'm 25 and have been working for 2+ years - does this program fit my background? I was thinking that it might better to be in a classroom with peers who have similar experience/are at the same spot in career.

Don't know if this thread is dead but hoping someone can help me out -
I applied to MS Marketing at USC during the first deadline and have already had my interview on 11/30. Originally they told me that it's going to take 1-2 weeks for me to hear back the results but might be longer than that because of Covid. Last week my interviewer emailed me again and said it would take an additional 4-5 weeks for them to reach an admission decision. I was wondering if this is normal for applicants or does this mean my chance of getting in is slim?
