Yep - if you miss the call they'll leave you a message. I waited by the phone all day on Dec 15 only to leave my phone in my office to go to a meeting and sure enough the call came through when I was without said phone. I got a message telling me to call them back, but that they had very good news for me.


So they actually ask you to call them back? I don't plan on answering any acceptance calls, since I don't see any benefit to it. I'm sure, though, that you can get all the information on the status check website.


Yeah - you don't have to though - like you said, all of that information will be updated via the application status. Mine was from my interviewer.

No idea. Just checked and there's no change yet.

I'm a R1 waitlister. They began calling at 9am all the way to around 5pm with the application status updated around 5pm to 5:30pm.

As I recall, they make all their calls first, and update/send e-mails later. If you're international, you may get an acceptance e-mail instead of a call, (this may have happened to some US/Canada-based folks in R1 as well - not sure). So, don't worry about constantly refreshing the application site - won't do you any good until you get the e-mail. Just try and treat yourself to a nice lunch, and write 15-20 pages of your novel while you're waiting. No biggie.

I really hope you're right. Are you positive this is what happened in Round 1? It's already night in Asia and I need to go to bed; there really would be no convenient time during EST business hours to call me here. :-/

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they should have called you already, or will call you tomorrow, or will send you an e-mail. I remember the folks in East/Central Asia were the first to get their e-mails in R1.

That doesn't bode well, although which of those three options they're doing makes a big difference haha. Were they the first to get their e-mails after calls to all the admits went out, or before/during?

No need to panic, all! I know that the first e-mail (acceptance) didn't even go out until around 1:30p EST on the day-of for R1. Seriously - go out for a walk. If you're in New York, it's beautiful outside. Absolutely nothing else you can do to help it along.

ETA - I got my call at 3:15p in R1, just FYI.

Thanks OhDenny. Not to hard to the melodrama, but I also heard that a large number of R1 admits accepted admission. Do you know if this is the case? For such a small class, I'm worried that means even less spots...
