I live 9 hours ahead of EST so I had banked no phone call on distance, but emails going out too - now, I'm worried.

I wouldn't say that! Some folks were still getting called as late as 5:30p in R1. Also - I think they made some additional calls the following day, even though the e-mails already went out. (That, though, could be a R1-specific thing, because they were interviewing until the deadline.)
