We should probably have a different forum for the WL candidates for Booth 2013. I see lots here.

Haha, I just created this account to share the same sentiments. Admitted at Wharton, waitlisted at Booth.

Kinda wonder if it's because I didn't interview on campus. Would really love to know why.

Happens all the time! With the multitude of exceptional applicants, they have to cut great candidates, even those with great stats. That's a sign of a really competitive applicant pool!

I interviewed on campus and it went well, but that didn't do much for me. This whole process is a crapshoot though, who knows what goes on behind the scenes.

I'm pretty sure that is not why... I interviewed off-campus and have a considerably lower GMAT than yours and from a top 30 school, yet got in even though my odds were worse. For some reason, I got only 2 outright admits, both from schools in Chicago. I have always said that I like big cities, and that might have been clear in the app...

What I am trying to say is that, although the process is impossible to decipher, these guys are pretty good at discerning fit... and they knew you preferred Wharton! (or at least that is what I thought from your message). Congrats on your admit!!!

Where you do the interview really doesn't make a difference. It's nice if you could visit campus, but even then I didn't visit any of the schools I applied to and was still happy with the results. I think you need to show that you "get" the school and can articulate why it's a good choice for you--whether it takes a visit, a conversation with an alum or an interview to back up your argument, it doesn't matter.

I totally agree with all of the above posters....the process is a total crapshoot overall. Has always been, and will probably always be. I actually legitimately love Booth (curriculum, everything really) and Chicago itself. I think it would have been a really tough choice actually as both Wharton and Booth are tremendous schools, and in very different cities. Guess the Booth folks actually somewhat made the decision for me! I will mull over whether or not to hop on the WL, but I think I will probably just take this as a sign and roll with Wharton.
