Need based aid would be the financial aid office (which most schools don't do). Merit-based scholarships are the adcom since a) they're the ones reviewing the applications, and b) they're deciding who they REALLY want there.

Where do i find instructions for re-applicants ?
Do i create a new profile with a new email id ?
What about recommendations do they have to be all new recommenders ?

Are you guys struggling with word limits?

If yes, I wanted your opinion as to much over-limit is okay - I feel 5-12% should be okay for Johnson essays?

YES!! For all you guys that submitted I have no idea how you managed to get your point across in 150 words. I'm relatively happy with my TOC essay but all my short essays are atleast 50 words over.....arrghhhh!!!!!! n to answer your question I did ask the adcom members on the GMATCH fair and they said it would be preferred if you stayed on or under the word limit but you wouldn't get penalized for going 5-10% over. I personally would try not to go over on all three essays but thats just me.

submitted my app for R1!

a quick question for you guys.
one of my recommenders found out that he wrote a wrong school name(eg. chicago instead of cornell) in a recommending letter after submitted it.
is it gonna affect my application significantly?

They won't penalize you for your recommender's mistake. But, now they know that you are applying to Chicago so make sure thaat in you app or interview, you tell them that you are applying to Chicago as well. I think last year my interviewer ask where else I applied and he had my application in front of him.

Is anyone else having trouble with recommendations going through? I know I have all 3 that have submitted (1 had to do so through email to Ad Com) but the status is still showing as "started" for all 3 instead of "submitted". I have used the same recommenders for my other school and they have all gone through without issue

guyz.. a quick question:

My recommenders haven't submitted the recommendations yet. They asked me for one more day to submit. Will my application be considered for R1 if my recommendations reach a day after the deadline?

An early response will be of great help.

In general, most schools have some sort of grace period for recommendation letters. That said, I'm not sure what Johnson's policy is. Your best bet is to call the admissions office and see what you can find out.

Submitted! I'm a re-applicant. During my previous app cycle, my recommenders slipped the deadline by a few days. Johnson did overlook that and invited me for an interview. So, a day or two should be fine. Dont worry. One of my recommenders is travelling and will be able to submit it only by friday. So yeah, I'm in the same boat!

I am also a re applicant. Do we still have to submit two recommendations? I thought we only needed one.

Just hit submit. Relieved, but not looking forward to the waiting game now. I'm heading to Ithaca mid-Nov, so it'd be nice to get an interview invite by then..although judging by last years thread it's not likely.
How many of you guys blew the word limit? I'm 10% over for the TOC and also the first of the short answers.

So when do we start hearing about interviews?

Last year, the first interview offer reported here was on 11/7. Not saying that will happen again, but a good data point. Anyone else have better info?

Last year, I think the deadline was 15th or 16th of Oct, so the first reported invite from here was about 3 weeks after..so maybe around the 24th?
I spoke to the adcom and they said they have a person assigned to each geographical area and they evaluate your whole application before sending out an invite. Also from last years thread it looks like they went out in batches weekly so I'm assuming a similar trend again?
