Hi
The questions in LOr is the same, only the essay questions are changed. They have removed the video essay this time.Another thing introduced this time is the early entry option ie a deferred admission for candidates with fewer than 2 years of work ex.

Consider kudos if my post helps!!

Hi
I have a low gmat score, but i from merchant navy background. What do you think 630 will be enough, i know its really low for ISB.
Lets see.

As i said before, the pool matters a lot and i believe that the pool you are coming from does not apply a lot to ISB, so i think 630 should do the trick :)

Hi all,
Is there no one who is applying to ISB this year? :P

Below are the essay topics, lets start a healthy discussion here which can help all of us in becoming future classmates :)

ISB Essay 1: Attitude, skills and knowledge differentiate people. Elaborate with two examples on how you would differentiate yourself. (300 words max)

ISB Essay 2: How does the ISB PGP tie-in with your career goals? (300 words max)

ISB Essay 3: Pick the most significant achievement (professional or personal) you have had and elaborate on the key learning you took away from it. (300 words max)

ISB Essay 4 (Optional): Please provide additional information, that will significantly affect the consideration of your application to the ISB. (300 words max)

ISB Reapplicant essay : How has your profile changed from the time you last applied to the ISB? (300 words max)

(I believe this one would contain lot of weight-age for applicants like me who have been dinged and especially dinged after the interview, as now they know who we are :( )

Tell me than why is European schools increasing there presence in FT ranking...If you see closely two new europeon schools have entered the ranking and they are Lisbon mba and tilsburg. Euro too is weak. Why are korean schools improving on rankings. Korean money is weak compared to dollar.....
It will be biased to just mention one fact that is weak rupee. IIM pgppx is also declining in rank but not as ISB. It is on a full swing.

may be pundits of ranking can better explain the decline.

Got it sir :)
But still ISB is the place to be ... trust me ..
I have been there a number of times due to various reasons and have interacted with the students also.
I don't mind the downfall in the rankings :) and i think you shouldn't mind either :)

BTW what are you up to these days as you have already finished your application process.
Have you submitted the application?

I have a doubt.. can anyone help me with it?

I wish to apply for ISB Scholarship along with the app for R1. However, my current salary is on the higher side. So will it create a negative image and hamper my admission chances, if i do so?

A prompt reply would be really helpful as deadline is tomorrow.

Thanks,
Lokesh

General Advice, write only things that you can justify.....After writing go through your application numerous time before submitting and ask yourself all the potential question that can arise from it.

Decoding the interview pattern of b-schools: Those biting their nails and assuming that it's all over.. Here is something that can help you relax and understand how most of the top b-schools in the world plan interviews and eventually admit. This is expected pattern based on what I learnt from my friends, it is not based on proven research (I would be PhD then :D)

Knowingly or unknowingly, they all end up using Ricker's Model (advanced derivative of beverton holt method). More or less, it is expected that after calling 680+ GMAT for interview in Hyderabad, the ISB would focus on different geography, which it would consider best location for demographic heterogeneity. After Delhi interviews, switch back to Hyderabad (this time range of 640 to 680). Then select a few from other (new) location and so on.This helps in maintaining diversity as well helps ensuring that best talent is not lost.

Now, [edited] those in who selected Hyderabad for interview (640 to 680 scorers) and wondering if calls are over [/edited], here is a good news: Majority of you would receive calls, although not strictly, after mid-period of Delhi Interviews i.e. Oct 18. Those who have GMAT score below 640 and are not much exceptional in profile can expect call during mid-period of 2nd location interviews i.e. 26 Oct.

Hi,

I would request you not to post any pattern which is not official.

Last year I applied with a 700 score and was the last one in R2 to be interview to be precise on the 10th of Feb.
And i am very sure that people with lower than 700 score would have been interviewed before me.
So people, don't panic. I don't think that any such pattern is followed.(May be I am wrong, but saying this with my own experience.)

Although I agree on the geography part, that they might want to interview the Delhi and Kolkata people in between the Hyderabad people,
But the GMAT part I seriously doubt.
May be the people who have chosen Hyderabad as the interview location get the calls once ISB is done interview the people for the Delhi location.

There can be a majority of factors on which the calls depend.
So hold on tight. The interviews will go on till 7th of November for Hyderabad location, so we can easily expect a call till 31st Oct or 1st Nov as per the ISB website which says that the calls are rolled out 5 to 7 days before the interview.

I have a 700 GMAT score and have not received the call till now and that does not at all by any means mean that my chances of getting a call are done and dusted.

Regards,
Ankur

I'm an applicant from Delhi in R1 and didn't get a call in my preferred city (Delhi) yet.... No updates on the portal too.
Does this mean I'm done with ISB for this year or can I still remain hopeful?

I am also on same boat as you.
Today I called up ISB and got the response that all calls for delhi are over. If a person has not received any call then he/she is not selected. The status update on the ISB portal will be donesoon.

Better luck next time !!

My MBA dream is over now. Its time to start something of my own and hire MBAs in future rather than doing MBA :)

My friends who are travelling to Hyderabad for interview, here are a few hotel options that you might want to check before landing in Hyderabad:
Quality Inn
Aditya Sarovar (very near but costly too)
Ella Hotel
Regenta
Red Fox Hotel (rates are better; around 3 to 4 KM; in hitech city)
Swagath De Royal (around 4 kms; quite economical; many facilities around; easy to access transport like auto, bus, etc.; make sure you select the one in Kondapur; they have many hotels around)
Sheraton Suites (never heard any of my friend booking this one)
Luxor Park (nearly 6 km from ISB; difficult to get any transport)

Then many suites (guest houses) are available around Gachibowli.

Be safe and good luck.
