There are a lot of accounts here since 2013 about people felt they didn't do well on the video interview and still got an interview invite. I doubt the video (nor any 1 part of your app) is a make-or-break deciding factor. Instead, I assume and have it on good accord that adcom looks at your app as an entire package. Each part of your app gives them a little more insight into who you are, what makes you you, and how you'll fit into the greater class. This video is just one of those factors.

Go take a walk. Try not to beat yourself up about it. Think about the great parts you were able to show adcom and focus on that. There's a ton of time in the admissions process; try not to stress over things you can't change now.

Regardless of whether it's a troll, invites should start going out around now anyway and continue through February.

The R1 welcome weekend is the last weekend of January so id expect R2 interviews to start after that. Agree with the above on timeline to expect invites. Check the admissions blog for any actual hints direct from the source though.

Did not post earlier because I didn't want to demoralize anyone, but I think I also failed miserably. You're not alone :)


It sounds like most people had similar experiences with the video questions, so I wouldn't worry. I feel like the whole point of the video questions is to take people out of their comfort zone. I mean, they're only giving you 60 seconds to answer deep philosophical questions about the relationship between business and society. Pretty much everyone's going to struggle in that situation.
