Re: Calling all ISB Applicants - (2014 Intake) Class of 2015 [#permalink]
Hey all ,

I'm planning on applying for ISB and was wondering if you guys could share your thoughts on my profile . if it is good enough ? if not , il also apply for a safety school .

I am an Indian male 28years old .
* Xth from CBSE : 72%
* XIIth from Tamil Nadu State board : 75%
* Did my B.com from University of Madras :6.25 cgpa on 10

* Worked as assistant analyst in a Shared service center for a top consulting company for 7months .

* after I left , I had typhoid for 2andhalf months . (have bloodtest reports to prove that). And also had problems related to the back for a few months (have X-ray and doctors prescriptions)
Then joined Dad in his business . Its not a big business but there has been increase in turnover after I joined .
Worked in business for 1year .

* After that did my Msc.Economics from Madras school of economics . cgpa: 8.5 on 10
Was in the top 20% of the college.

* After that worked as Business analyst in a company for 3years .

Extra curricular activities :

* Part time volunteer at an NGO 2years . Our main activity was to teach poor people who couldn't afford proper schooling .
* Published a few papers on topics related to economics in a few college journals .

GMAT score: 680

MBA Goals:
* Why MBA ?
Well I was working as a Business Analyst for quite sometime and I am from economics backgroud . I was fascinated how a business reacts to the economics reforms and the overall economy of a country . And that got me interested in business as a whole and now I want to gain knowledge and refine myself in business aspects .

*Goals?
Short term : get inside business consulting
Long Term: have a company/Business of my own .

Regards,

Fudge

The ISB Website says the tentative dates as:

Delhi / Mohali 26 - 31 Oct, 2013
Kolkata 1- 2 Nov, 2013
Hyderabad & International 1 Oct - 10 Nov, 2013
Source: https://pgpapp.isb.edu/user/cycle-1.html

So the people who have opted for Hyderabad might start hearing from ISB soon :)

All the best!!!

My evaluators claim that they have sent in their online evaluations. However, the ISB site shows the following. Has anyone faced a similar situation?:

Evaluation 1: Online - Link forwarded to Evaluator Evaluation 2: Online - Link forwarded to Evaluator
Application Completion Status: Complete except for Evaluation Form(s)

I also received the following email recently:

Your application is complete except for the evaluations which are awaited. Once we receive both your evaluations we shall update the status to 'complete'. However, if we do not receive them ASAP, please note that your application will not be considered for admission.

Please note that if your evaluations are 'offline' it may take around 15 days (even more depending on number of offline evaluations submitted) to update the status even if the courier has been delivered to us.

Request you not to call or send us reminder(s) in this regard, since we will be very busy and will not be able to attend to this until we complete verifying all the applications received for the deadline.

You may also login into your account to check the status.

I hope your problem is solved, if not you should call the ISB admission office immediately, they will help you out surely.

Yours was a different case dude ... you submitted your application in July itself, so they moved out of the schedule and took your interview.

Hi Fellows,

Have submitted my application for R1... Status of the application is now "complete" :) ...
The wait for the decision starts... I am hoping it won't be a long wait... Any idea when the shortlist will be announced or will it be a case by case intimation??

Thanks,
Sid

Hey Sid,

ISB does not release a shortlist. They intimate the people by sending a mail.
The mail is sent approximately 7-10 days before the interview. Please refer to my post above to see when the interviews are starting.

I am afraid but you will have to wait a little longer :)
ISB announces all the R1 results on the same date. That means, you will have to wait till 15th Nov for the final results :)

Hi all,

We recently hosted ISB on e-GMAT platform. We had their senior director of placements and a couple of alumni answer student's questions. We had about 200+ egmat students who asked 250+ questions. Here is a recording of the session:

Let me know if you find the recording useful.

Hello Everyone,

Goood luck to all R1 applicants and R2 applicants like me, buckle up. Thanks Rajat for posting the link, it was an informative session. This thread has been a great leveler so far. I haven't started writing my applications yet. Somehow have the feeling i should write only after my GMAT, in the meanwhile for those of you, who have hired consultants to review your applications for ISB in R1, would request you guys to share your experiences.

Cheers,
Farhan

Hey guys,

I have been wondering about this for quite some time now...

Does the brand of the employer have any influence in the selection? Like, if there is a situation where there are two very similar applicants; say one is from infy and the other from one of the international biggies like Google or Microsoft... Now both are IT profiles... But will the brand be considered??

Your views will help my curiosity!

Hey Sid,
Although i'm NOT an expert but still my two cents -

If ALL OTHER parameters are same, then we can presume that Google or Microsoft will have greater impact than it'll be for Infy or TCS or even IBM/Accenture/Cognizant.

Google and Microsoft are considered creame de la creame of employers dude! 8-)
