Hey man, I got the same email. Also transitioning from the military so it makes just as little sense to me.

I received an invite from Darden today at 10:06 EST. However, this is what the e-mail said:

We understand that you applied to Darden's full-time MBA. In our review of your application, however, the Admissions Committee has determined that we see a stronger fit for you with Darden's Executive MBA formats. Moreover, I am writing to invite you to interview for Darden's Global MBA for Executives and MBA for Executives. We are excited to offer you this opportunity. While you will not be offered an interview for our full-time MBA format, this invitation to interview for our Executive MBA formats is being extended to only a very small number of applicants.

Has anyone else had any experience with this? I am applying to full time MBA programs because I am making a career change (leaving active duty military). The only thing I can think of is that I am older than most applicants (34).

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear something - invites are still going out!

Edit: I am in Hawaii. Also, I submitted my application on October 12th. It still counted for R1 due to technical issues that prevented me from submitting on October 10th.

I got this same email. Invite for EMBA.
I'm 33 years old and almost 10 years of experience in manufacturing. Not sure what to make of this.

Had interview on 11/14

Was interviewed by 2 people a the same time. One female adcom member and one male 2nd year. Interview started off with asking me to tell my life story from birth to here now with sitting in this interview. I was "interrupted" several times to expound on certain things or to clarify. This took about 20 minutes. After, a view structured questions, "How will you get involved at Darden?" "What is your leadership style" and then they left time for questions

They did not take notes during the interview and they sat in chairs right across from me without a table in between. I thought it was very conversational and low key. Overall went well.

Cheers

Is it safe to assume that its the end of road for Indian applicants who haven't received the interview invite yet?

I dont think so.
The way interview invites are going..and the way they are personalized.. some people getting skype invite..some getting alums..
this kind of process takes a lot of time and so all applications cannot be processed in a week.
I think you can look forward to more invites later.
As I have said in the past: "keep calm and have faith in your applications" :)

hi everyone,

those who have taken their interviews, are Darden interviews blind - ie: can we assume that the interviewer has seen your application?

My interviewer hadn't seen my resume or application at all. She knew nothing about my background or goals and explained that she was not one of the two people who had reviewed my application. I thought this would make for a tough interview, but it seemed clear they were only checking to see if I was a good fit for the school and how well I would stand up in front of recruiters. The rest of the information is contained in my application.

FROM Darden Admissions Blog: Consulting With Entrepreneurs in the Charlottesville Community
With over 100 elective courses available, Darden students have no shortage of opportunities to learn new things that will help them in their career. Many students, however, choose to do an independent study where they work with faculty to write cases, improve the School through consulting work or work with entrepreneurs to improve their businesses.

In this video, Joe Geissenhainer (MBA ’14) discusses the entrepreneurship culture in Charlottesville, as well as his financial consulting experience with local Charlottesville and i.Lab Incubator company Mad Hatter Foods.

Seems the invitations have slowed down substantially as of late. Nothing here yet so starting to feel pretty down. Good luck to everyone interviewing!

Did anyone from India (or other south asian countries) who got an interview invite also get an email from Darden South Asia Society? I got one and was not sure what to make of that email. Though it sounded just like a hello email, I am trying to see if I need to take some action from my end. Anyone in a similar situation?

So I guess I am the first one here to have the interview since no one has shared their experience as yet from India.
Hope it goes well.. :)
