For those of you who will be traveling to Charlottesville, what are you doing for travel arrangements? Given the interview times, it looks like I will need to fly into DC the night before, rent a car, drive to Charlottesville, stay in a hotel that night, then do my interview the next day, drive back to DC and fly out that night. Sounds excessive - just wondering what other ideas are out there.

Charlottesville does have an airport you can fly into if you haven't looked into that yet.

I will be taking the Amtrak into charlottesville's station, which is a short taxi ride to darden. I'm staying at the Inn at Darden, which is right on campus and if you mention you'll be there for an interview the rate is $85/night, which is a great deal compared to other things close by (even airbnb).

I looked into it but it's a pretty small airport and flight schedules and prices aren't too attractive. It may be worth it, though

C-ville is a pretty fun place. Flying in directly seems more convenient if you want to explore Charlottesville a bit more and save yourself about 5 hours of driving. Edit - misread the original post. Carry on.
