Re: Calling Sauder(British Columbia) Applicants:2016 Intke-Class of Dec 17 [#permalink]
The attestation has to be from the University. I think that's what makes it official. When you ask your university for transcripts, they normally hand out a transcript showing your grades for all the semesters and an attested copy of your degree certificate if your transcript does not clearly mention the degree you were conferred.
I graduated from Anna University Chennai, and my transcript is completely different from my consolidated marksheet. And I also got the attested degree as part of the same request.
Please speak to your university.
My university is a mess. They charge per transcript per college. And well the fact that I am not staying anywhere nearby my college makes the attestation from college more difficult. So if any form of attestation would have worked, it would have been a bliss. But anyway, I have talked to the Ad Com and she told me that the mail serves just as a reminder, as long as we have uploaded an unofficial copy. Our application will still be considered and we would need to submit the original by the time when our offer are being extended.
Your last 2 lines is the clearest answer I could find on the subject here! Thanks ! Let the wait continue :)

I do not mean to pain, but shouldn't the unofficial also be an attested copy from the university? As far as the instructions in all the universities go, an unofficial transcript is one where you have opened the envelope.
Official - Transcript + Degree - Attested by University - Sealed in an envelope - Signed across the envelope flap - to be just couriered/mailed either by you or the university.
Unofficial - same as above, except that you opened it, scanned it and uploaded it - which means that it cannot be mailed anymore to the the universities that you have applied to.

Just letting you know so that you can urge your university for a copy and still upload it if required.

I have asked my university to provide me an attested copy, hopefully they will soon.
shyamnambiar, you should also talk to your university to send the certificate as soon as possible, even if the requirement is at the later days. There's no harm in doing so, right!

I have transcripts from 3 places, and 1 of the 3 DOES NOT give transcripts in sealed condition. So it is possible to seal the envelope yourself and send it to the School required, and it is accepted. By now, most Schools know which Universities do things which way, especially if they are known names. In my case, one, Cochin University (CUSAT) gives sealed transcripts with cello tape all over! I decided to open up one, and found that it contains each semester marks on one page, with one page conveying the overall grading. It does not enclose a copy of the Degree certificate, but only the grade. And each page has a field which states the School it is issued for! Which means, no taking for X and sending to Y! :)
Another is IIT Delhi. They give you transcripts in sealed envelopes, which contain ONLY the mark sheets of each semester, no degree/ diploma certificates - attested or otherwise. These are not marked to specific schools and you can write what you want on the envelope.
However, there may be a separate provision for you to apply for a certified copy of the degree/ diploma certificate in most places, unless they are ridiculously bureaucratic (CUSAT comes pretty close! I could become a scientist at NASA sooner, I think!) :)
Hope that helps. As for my case, I intend to do nothing till Admissions are confirmed, as I have uploaded the image of all non-transcript covered papers and no school is about to hold up admission process pending receipt of an attested Certificate, if they find the candidature good. Which is what Shrek1190 also said, you get until jun to complete it. So no point spending money, time and effort in running on that road at present, I feel! :)

I feel some schools would like to see a sincere attempt, even though the candidate might be too good. :) but I guess it's more about the individual's confidence.
I normally do not like to take chances, and am trying as much as I can to stick to what the schools want. :) May be I'm old fashioned.

Thanks a lot bro. :D
Yours should also be coming in a few days.
I do not think they are planning to complete the Round 1 by Christmas because I saw that there were interview slots in Jan..... somewhere around in the 2nd week.

Hi,

I am thinking of applying here. I was just wondering can anyone help me with some details? My question is does anyone know about the time-lines of the application. Meaning, say I apply on the 4th of January, how long do they normally take to inform me of their decision (including video interview). Also MOST IMPORTANTLY how long do I have (in weeks or days) to accept an offer if made by the business school?

Thanks to all in advance for the help!

Normally the entire process completes in about 4-6 weeks, but there is no telling how long it is going to take this year. Some of us who submitted our applications on 22nd of October have not even had our profiles evaluated yet. :) So there you go.
Normally the time given to accept the offer is 30 days if I am not wrong.

So are you sure about the 30 days? Sorry to ask again. Cuz I will be timing my application like that. I need to have a good time frame within which I would be able to choose between the different offers. I know that I am being optimistic and might end up with only one offer, still its always good to plan. I am only applying to Canadian schools.

The maximum is going to be 30 days mate. SFU gives you 21 days only. Wait for the some of the others here who have offers to confirm, as I have none yet. :)
