  • Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be joining the Stanford GSB faculty next month as co-director of the school's Center for Global Business and the Economy, reports a Businessweek blog post last week. The center "aims to be the leader in developing and disseminating curriculum materials, research, and conceptual frameworks on global issues." This will not be Rice's first time on the Stanford staff; from 1993 to 1999 Rice served as provost for the university.
  • UCLA's The MBA Insider's Blog recommends that motivated "early career" (EC) candidates (b-school applicants with less than three years of professional work experience) take some time to reflect and consider how an MBA might help shape their professional goals. According to the blog post, UCLA Anderson warmly welcomes ECs: "We are every bit as interested in your career potential and ability to give back to your academic, work, and local communities as what you have accomplished to date." The post offers specific advice geared towards ECs and is a valuable read for all younger applicants.
