Student Perspective

Fairfield has several traditions that center around music, culture and communication. The school is located near the beach, so several of these traditions are on the beach. The Floating Naut is a weekly gathering at the beach for all graduate and undergraduate students. The Mock Wedding is a social event where students stage a wedding and reception party. May Day and Clam Jam are music events where students get together for beer, food and fun.

Students looking for something to do that isn't on the beach but still off-campus can visit the Bijou Theatre, The Connecticut Art Trail and the Planetarium. The Life of the Oceans is a large aquarium where students can see marine life including sharks, seals, otters and sea turtles.

For night life and good food and drinks, several bars are situated around the school campus. Bars near the school include Old Post Tavern, Vinny's Ale House, Archie Moore's Bar and Restaurant, and the Levee.

The campus has a scenic view, and students can see the south side of New York's Long Island from the campus. The campus has gardens, rolling hills and small ponds where students can relax and study. The campus received a 2008 award for having the best campus safety in the US. The student body has implemented a "green movement," so many buildings have had improvements that focus on energy efficiency and the environment.

Campus temperatures are mildly hot in the summers with highs of 82 degrees. Winters are cold and below freezing, so expect snow. Average lows in the winder are in the 20s.
