Student Perspective

Clemson University was originally a school for US Military Marines. The school has been open to civilian students since 1955, but many school organizations are military in origin such as the K-7 Scabbard and Blade, Major Rudolf Anderson Junior Squadron and Major Dennis H. Satler Chapter Silver Wings. The campus attracts many US Military personnel who look towards education after their years of service.

Every year, students participate in a tradition called Tigerama. The tiger paw logo is widely known as the college stamp, and each year students create floats with the tiger paw logo as a parade theme. The Two-dollar bills tradition has students spending two dollars to see an off-campus game. This tradition has been alive since 1977.

After hours doesn't have to be all about the books. Clemson University is center to many bars and social places where students can hang out. Tiger Town Tavern, TD's of Clemson, The Esso Club, Backstreets Pub and Deli and Sloan Street Tap Room are just a few of the bars located in the Clemson college town.

Campus Life

Clemson has a long military history, so the campus has several military historical artifacts on the campus grounds. The campus faculty believes students should work hard and play hard, so there are many sports and recreation facilities.

Weather is hot and humid in the summer months, and some winters it snows. Summer temperatures can be as high as in the 90s, and winters can dip down to slightly below freezing with temperature averages at 30 degrees.

Career Placement and Job Opportunities

Each year the Career Placement Department hosts seminars and career fair events to help students get a head start in a future job offer. The career services office can also help students find an internship while studying in graduate school.
