Calling All 2017 Consortium MBA Applicants!!!

Does anyone know if UNC will have their Minority Preview weekend this year?

I do not believe they will be having that event this year. It was not featured on the consortium's list of member schools' diversity weekends. I'd recommend reaching out to someone from admissions such as Stephanie Barbee-Williams just to be sure.

For those applying to Darden, did you guys notice that the essays are different for CGSM applicants?

Regular applicants

CGSM applicants
What is your short-term, post-MBA career goal and why? [150 words]
Tell us what you would want your learning team to know about you. [100 words]
If you could go anywhere in the world with Darden, where would you go, and why? [50 words]
Charlottesville has a renowned film festival, book festival, and vibrant music scene. What is your favorite film, book, or song? [15 words]

I just want to make sure that these four shorter CGSM essay prompts replace, and aren't in addition to, the one essay prompt Darden requires of regular applicants. Any idea?

They replace the regular ones. A lot of the schools have different essay requirements for Consortium applicants.

Thanks Goillini13! Good to know other schools switch out essay prompts for CGSM applicants, Darden was the only school on my list to do so.

Anyone else attending Cornell's JMB this year? Got my invite last week. I'll also be attending the Diversity at Darden Open House if anyone is interested in meeting up at either event.

Did anyone apply to Ross Upclose or Stern Diversity Weekend?

I applied for Stern Diversity Weekend. I applied very close to the end of the app cycle so I feel like odds aren't in my favor.

I heard the invites went out for Stern Diversity Weekend. Have you heard back yet?

I was under the impression that everyone heard back regarding Stern's Diversity Weekend last Friday, 9/16. I was accepted.

Submitted my application last night. Waiting on one of my recommenders to submit in the next couple weeks, and then I will be done! Bring on the interviews! Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone!

Is anyone re-applying to Consortium? Does anyone know the acceptance rates for second time applicants?

Regarding the acceptance rate for second time applicants, I personally don't know how I'd interpret that stat even if they did release it. For me, it would only be helpful with the following knowledge:
1. How (if at all) did the CGSM applicant improve their application over the past year?
2. Did the person apply to different member schools? For example, if you apply only to Haas and are rejected then only re-apply to Simon the next year and are accepted, it's totally different. Since there are 18 member schools, the only way such statistic could be telling would be if the candidate applied to the same school(s) in the same order and with the same stats.
