You have got fair chances.....for any IT applicant i think its always 50 - 50 at ISB.....

Consider the IT graduates from Banglore and HYd region....almost all those who prepare fr mba apply to ISB.....

Its a very large pool...plan your essays properly....

I do not agree to your view. You have enough work Ex...its quality WE. I do not know, why you are having such a reasoning for yourself. If that is the case call the admission committee and explain them the situation. I am sure they will allow you for Early entry option.
They have done this in the case of my friend.

Consider kudos If my post helps!!

Planning to apply to ISB for next year fall .

GMAT-720 (50/36)
BTech-CSE from IIT
Working in IT for past 2 years. By the time I enter it will be 3 years.

I know my work ex is on a lower side. But I have heard people getting admits in ISB with work ex of 2-3 years.
So, wanted to check what are the components in my profile I should highlight etc.?

I am also planning to apply to Ross,Kelley,Smith,NUS.
Any help is appreciated.Cheer :-)

Its perfectly fine to apply in R2, last year I also applied in R2 only
You should apply, when you feel you are completely ready with you application. Do not rush through your essays just for the sake of applying in R1.

Hi guys,

Am planning for R2 since i am taking the GMAT only in October.
Would applying for R2 limit my chances of admission, since R1 has 159 applications and R2 has only 33 ?

Any feedback would help :)

Did not get your question :)
According to the ISB, aplying in any cycle does not affect your candidature,
but some how i feel that applying in R1 should be beneficial :)

Having said this, please do not rush through your essays. If you think you are not ready by R1 deadkine, do not submit the application.
I think something around 25 to 30 days should suffice for completion of you application which includes all the essays and recommendations.

All the best.

Re: Calling all ISB Applicants - (2014 Intake) Class of 2015 [#permalink]
hi all..
I just gave my gmat today, and messed it up big time. Scored 640 :(.. I was targeting ISB.. I know its a very low score.. too low to even talk about it.. n for 640 my work ex of 38 months as on today.. is low..but Mr. kannan has said it so many times about gmat score being just one thing... now my heart says MAYBE.. :D... to friends having experiences of ISB shortlisting patterns plz help. I wanna ask if i should still even try for 1st round..My profile is as under:

1. Had arrngd functions, gettogethers, etc on a medium scale when I was very small.. know its very small thing and might not even be worth mentioning...
2. scored 77--12th and 79 in grad.
3. Had represented school in handball at district level.
4. Had been very active in college and worked in 5 diff committees in college. headed hostel mess committees with no. of residents at around 500 for 2 years our in graduation..
5. had participated in no of tech fest... won some lost some..
6. Had been into NCC and had cleared B certificate of the same..
7. Work experience of 38 months as of today.. in OIL marketing PSU as as Asst. Manager.
8. have organised 25th year celebration of my plant and participated extensively in the same.
8. Have implemented no. of ideas at work including energy conservation, improving hr practices, etc.
9. Monitoring works worth over 4 crores whole whole process right from tendering to evaluation to release of payments are being done by me this year.
10. have clear objectives to tell.. 5 years..10 years down the line..
11. ESSAYS: lets say if I do well in them....?
do i have a chance...?? Should I give a try in 1st round, or should give GMAT again and apply in 2nd round.. because I will need some preparation.. cannot take risk of scoring back to back low scores..

Hi
If you think u can make through wiht the current gmat score, go for it.
But remember , if u do not get through this year, nxt u ll be tagged as re- applicant...do not let that thing happen to you.
Why not retake gmat and improve by other 50 points......u need to prove ur academics, either thru gmat or thru grad or undergrad

Consider kudos if my post helps!!!

The whole point of each and every scoring criteria is to makeup for what's missing in your profile. I have almost similar number of months workex. We will be on lower than median workex scale for ISB, so remember if there are multiple criteria for shortlisting a score of 640 with a lower side on workex doesn't look good. Now if your essays and application is simply outstanding, the adcom may overlook this. If i were in your place, i would know that i have a score of 640 so i am going to apply but i know there is an r2 deadline too, so i would rather retake the gmat and then apply. If you improve on your scores then your two attempts are already justified. If not the adcom will know this guy gave two attempts and is serious about improving himself, which is a nice quality in an applicant.

Cheers and Good luck with your decision.
