Just curious what everyone did for their optional essay! Video? Powerpoint? Just the essay?

I somehow pulled a video together at the last minute (had never used imovie before in my life so that was an experience) but I'm wondering if that's the exception or the norm.

FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: MIT Sloan Master of Finance (MFin): Interview Tips & Updates
Congratulations to those of you who have submitted an application for our Master of Finance (MFin) program! Our admissions team is busy reading your applications, and we are excited to learn more about you!

A critical part of our evaluation process is the interview. It is an opportunity to bring your application to life and for us to get to know you a little better. In addition, the interview is an important time for us (and you!) to assess your fit with the MIT Sloan community. I encourage you to look at the attached interview guide with information to help you prepare. Since many of you are asking, here is what to expect:

  • Interviews are by invitation only and are a requirement for admission.
  • Interview invitations will begin going out on Monday, January 23rd and will continue to be sent on a rolling basis.  We make every effort to send interview invitations at least 1 week prior to your interview date.  The timing of your interview invitation is not a reflection of the strength of your candidacy. It’s about ensuring the quality and consistency of reviews and to ensure things go smoothly with interview sign-ups.
  • Interviews will be held from January 30 – February 22.
  • Interviews will be conducted in person in several key locations around the globe including Cambridge MA, London, Mumbai, Santiago, Singapore, Beijing, and Shanghai.
  • Candidates who are invited to interview will sign up for a 45-minute to 1-hour time block and will meet with 1-2 interviewers.
  • The interview will consist of both a behavioral assessment and a career assessment.

View our MFin Interview Guide here
For more information, please join Kim Ebeling, Assistant Director of Admissions, for a series of admissions interview tip videos.  Upcoming videos will be posted on our MIT Sloan Admissions Facebook page and will highlight some important interview tips!

I made a video using videoscribe. I read somewhere that almost 50% folks make multimedia stuff while remaining 50% do written essays...

Last year the first interview invites on clear admit were reported on 02/18, and the deadline for R2 was 02/14. So they started send interivew invites 35 days after the deadline.

If they follow that same pattern this year, they will start sending invites on 02/21/2017.

I just got an email confirming my submission.
In that mail, the adcom state the timeline as below.
Quote:
January 18 - February 28 the Admissions Committee members will be busy reading applications.
Tuesday, February 21st – First batch of interview invitations will be sent
Friday, February 24th - Second batch of interview invitations will be sent
Wednesday, March 1st - Third batch of interview invitations will be sent
Friday, March 3rd – Fourth and final batch of interview invitations will be sent
By March 3rd all Round 2 applicants will receive either an interview invitation or final decision by end of day, 5pm ET.

Anyone else got the same email?

Yup. 2/21/2017, 2/24/2017, 3/1/2017, or 3/3/2017. Let the waiting game begin.

Narenn posted a great analysis a while ago.
You can check the below post. According to this results, it seems like R3 acceptance rate is really low for GMATclub members.
However, the data point is self-reported and the actual acceptance rate might differ from it.

If there's anyone with an interview invite or an admission offer still around, were your Linkedin profiles viewed by someone from the school? Should one be worried that he/she did give a link to the Linekdin profile but didn't see any hits on it yet.

Given there's very very limited space in the app process (750 words or 250 words plus a meager 2 minute video), there's not a lot of other avenues to showcase your work.

Any thoughts inputs on this would be much appreciated.
