To all those(Indian applicants) with a score around 680, coming from IT background - Its gonna be tough. To convert a 680 score, you will need atleast one thing that makes you stand out. That might be your onsite exposure, or some assignment, or something good in ECA. If that is not the case, you might get a call for an interview. But it would be difficult to convince the adcom for final call. I had 5 interviews last season. All rejections. I am working on my score and profile improvement.
But again, this does not apply to all candidates. Your story might be different. If you are sure you cannot increase your score, try with the score. But be assured, there are many Indians with score 700 plus and if the adcom has option of 2 candidates with similar profiles, they would select one with highest score. And mind you, there are lot of Indians fighting for few seats.
All the best! Cheers.

P.S - I was on waitlist without interview and finally rejected.

hey can anyone confrim the essay for this year

I had made my profile on Rotman's website two weeks back, and the first essay was the same as the one present last year:

Please state your professional goals and how you plan to achieve them. (250 words maximum)

I had almost finished my essay and logged into the website today to only see that the essay has changed to:

When you reflect 10 years from now, how will you measure your MBA experience? (500 words maximum)

Has anybody had the same experience?

Also, there are no tips on their blog about this question. No insights into what they are expecting in this question are provided. If somebody comes across a link giving some tips, please do post it here.

Hi,

I would be applying to Rotman 2019 2 year MBA program.
Can anyone review my profile and let me know of my chances of being admitted.
I'm an Indian Engineering graduate.
GMAT: 710 (Q49,V37)
Work-ex: 4 years experience as a Field Professional in Oil & Gas Sector
ECA: A lot during undergraduate days, but not much during employment
Undergrad: B.Tech (Mechanical Engg.) National Institute of Technology Calicut
GPA: 6.96/10 (This is a bit of worry for me)

I shall be applying in R1 preferably.

Cheers,
Shashank

Yes, it seems the essay has changed. I remember seeing the old topic a week back when I accessed my account.

The new one is tricky :?

I also just saw my essay erased and the new topic updated. The video essay link still directs me to "Class of 2018" Is that the same for anyone else? I am told to watch for the admission blog as it should be updated in the next days to provide more details on the application.

Guys,

1. i am looking to maximize my chances of scholarship support, please advice on what you think is a better option
A) i apply to the first round, with a GMAT waiver (i have cleared all 3 levels of the CFA exams)
B) I apply to the third round with a GMAT score
Applying at a latter deadline, decreases my chances of support, i think. while I can apply without a GMAT, i have read up on various places it is the key to scholarships

2. please evaluate my profile and my chances
CFA Level 3 cleared, 3 years of work experience in a bank's Treasury dept with 1.5 years on the FX Sales desk and the rest on the emerging market Fixed Income desk. bachelors of Bus. Admin with a 3.25/4.0 GPA form IBA, Karachi, one of the better schools in Pakistan.

Looking forward for some helpful advice...

Same here, I'm probably taking the GMAT in the first week of October to send the application for the first round. I'm not very sure yet if I should send for the first round or maybe wait for the second and submit the application with a better GMAT score. I'm around 600 right now.

Hi All,

In the process of putting together my application. I also noted that the essay topic has changed recently - assuming that means the previous question was for last year's applicants?

Cheers,

hey coruja,

I guess you can apply for R1, provided you have all other aspects of application ready except for the gmat score...but if you have to be absolutely sure and confident, in my opinion 2nd round would be a safe bet, you don't want to mess-up the application by going for it hurriedly.
