Hey Jeet. Good luck with your application. I've been accepted but haven't made a decision yet.

Hey SpareTime: Congrats for getting an acceptance. I had thought I am gonna be the first applicant for the Class of 2018.

By the way, I submitted my application on 25th February. I received an invite for interview on 29th February. My interview is scheduled on the 9th of March. Would you please mind sharing your interview experience, and few tips on the types of questions on expect.

The previous year's thread has a lot of insight on the interviews, so I'd check that out if I were you. I'd simply agree and say that the interviewer does a great job of making the whole thing seem like a natural conversation, while still clearly touching on areas that they want to talk about. I couldn't really tell you about certain questions to prepare for because your interviewer will be asking questions specific to your profile. It's certainly not going to be a "answer this set of pre-set questions" type of thing.

Thank you very much for the advice, that was really helpful :) :-D . I got the answers I was looking for from previous year's thread.

Hi Pankaj,

I received larger scholarship packages from other schools, but I accepted at Ivey because all my research and experience convinced me that Ivey is unequivocally the best business school in Canada. The students at the program were very bright, very outgoing, and very helpful - that's the type of network I want to be a part of. Further, the faculty were clearly the cream of the crop. The class I sat in on was fast paced and interesting. and the facilities themselves were gorgeous (although in the grand scheme of things the quality of the building was very low down on my list of priorities). The post-grad placement and salary figures were also a big bonus. For me, the quality of the network was the biggest determining factor - I feel as though the openness of alumni is something that is unrivaled among business schools in Canada, and it's a quality that will pay dividends throughout my career.

I hope you apply (I'm quite lonely right now as I'm the only accepted student for 2017 intake, as far as I know). Best of luck with your applications and your future studies, wherever you choose to go.

Hi All,

I interviewed with IVEY on the 9th of March with a member of the Career Management Team. I would like to share my experience, so that people who are yet to interview may get a fair idea of what to expect.

I have interviewed with quite a few schools over the past 12 months or so, and have admit offers from a couple of them, however the interview that I had with IVEY was quite unlike any other MBA admission interviews I have ever had. As scarecrow had mentioned in an earlier post, the questions asked were very personalised and specific to my profile and the application I had submitted. I had expected a lot of questions outside of work since I have significant community and other experiences outside of work, however 95%, or even possibly 100%, of the questions were related to my professional experiences. A lot of the questions were cases related to my work. Almost all of the questions were behavioural questions, but none of the questions was generic.

I am not happy with my performance in the interview though. I cannot comment on whether it was good or bad, the outcome will testify that, but I can say I am not 100% satisfied with my performance.

However, I can say I am extremely impressed by the quality of the interview and the entire interview process. The turnaround is going to be 2-3 weeks. I hope I make the cut, and will wait for further news from IVEY.

Although it might not be much helpful to list out the questions, especially since the interview is very personalised, still below are a few questions I remember:

The interview lasted a little less than 1 hour.

1. Run me through your resume in 2-3 mins.
2. What do you currently do in your role?
3. Why MBA? Why now and why Ivey?
4. A time when you did something unpopular. Looking back would you have changed anything if you got a chance to do it again?
5. A time you felt frustrated. Looking back would you have changed anything?
6. Which other schools did you apply to and why? Have you applied to any other Canadian school?
7. How would you contribute to the Ivey experience?
8. What clubs would you like to participate in at Ivey?
9. A time when you made a decision with limited data. Looking back would you have changed anything?
10. A time when you had to deal with an extremely difficult employee. How did you deal with the situation?
11. If you were the CEO of your company, what are the three things that would keep you awake?
12. Why did you choose the list of organization you want to work with post-MBA? How do you plan to land a job with them?
13. Why did you choose the role/profile that you want to work in post-MBA?
14. How do you plan to find a job post IVEY in Canada? What research have you done?
15. What would be your primary concerns in relocating to Canada, and in studying at IVEY?
16. Do you know how your target organization hire? Are you a good fit?
17. Do you have a Plan B
a. If you did not get accepted at IVEY?
b. If you do not find a job post IVEY?
18. Any questions for the interviewer?

Please note that this is not a master list, and the questions will be very specific to the applicant and the application he/she submits

Hi pankajvashist,

The video essay will be an extempore component. You can practice as many times as you may want before the actual essay. There will be two questions. For each question, you will be given 30 secs to prepare your answer. After those first 30 secs, you will have 60secs to answer the question. The questions are fairly open-ended and entirely behavioural in nature. Make sure to dress professionally.

Below are a few questions you can expect (based on my experience with both ROTMAN and IVEY):

- Which is your dream travel destination, and why?
- Who is your inspiration in life, and why?
- What personality traits define you as a person?
- Why did you choose IVEY? What is it that you like the most about IVEY?
- Why did you decide to pursue MBA? Why now?
- What are your hobbies or interests? What do you usually do when you are not working?
- If you could reset your life and start all over again, what course would you choose? What things would you not change, and what things would you change?

The format, the types of questions and even the platform, KIRA, is same for the ROTMAN video essays as well. But since IVEY is introducing this for the very first time, my gut feeling is the weightage to this component will not be as high as the written essays and LORs.

Hi jeetparicha85 and SpareTime - now that you're admitted, do you guys know what is the deposit amount required to confirm your place in the class. Is there only one deposit amount of 5000 CD required or are multiple deposits required as one approaches spring 2017?

Hi AllforMBA. I tried finding the tuition schedule, but I can't find it. It's probably in my email but I'm too lazy right now. I'm 95% sure that it's just the $5000 deposit, then your tuition is due in 2 or 3 installments.

Congrats jeetparicha85 on getting in. You should join the Facebook group! I'm the only student in there currently, so I feel like I'm in a Truman show type situation.

Hey Buddy. Thanks for wishing me. Somehow the offer letter from IVEY went to my spam and I cleared my spam folder without checking it. Sensed something unusual yesterday (no offer letter for almost 20days since I received Julia's call), I sent an email to Julia, and Mandy Gray called me to inform that the offer letter email is resent. I accepted it just today. Should be added to the FB group soon.
