Hi All,

I have submitted my application on Dec 3rd. Got a confirmation from Gabriele that my application pack is received in full, including the reference letters.

Don't see much activity on this thread. Anyone actively participating here please?

I would like to understand a few aspects about the school and MBA in Germany in general - mostly related to financing (external scholarships), internships and jobs, language etc. Is this a good place to post my queries please?

Thanks,
Jeet

Hello Everyone,

I am planning to apply in Mannheim for session starting from Sept'2016. Can anyone help me regarding job opportunities in Germany for international students. Is Mannheim a good place to study in current scenario?
Also, I would really appreciate if anyone who has already applied, help me through application procedure.

Hey cait684 - Congrats for the admit.

I have already applied to Mannheim. I have submitted my video presentation as well. I guess not everyone is asked to do a video presentation. I submitted my application on Dec 2nd and video on Dec 19th.

I got an acknowledgement from Gabriele that they have started reviewing my application.

Did you have to submit a video presentation as well? Approximately how many days after video did you receive interview invite? And how many days after interview did you receive the admission offer?

Are you planning to learn German before you even land in Germany? Sorry I have masked my questions along with my congratulations :-)

Hey jeetparicha85, I didn't have to submit a video presentation. I completed a case study analysis and discussed it with the admissions team. Generally, it was about a week to hear back from them each time regarding next steps.

I already speak German fairly well but am pretty rusty :o So I will work on it at home as much as I can and am considering arriving a month or two early to adjust + take some supplemental classes.

Good luck!

Hey there. Thanks for sharing your experience cait684. How many days of notice does MBS give to prepare for the case study? I suppose we will get some lead time to prepare for the case study. Any pointers on how to approach the case study, prepare for it and get the package ready? I have never done a case study in my life, so trying to be as prepared as possible.

Hi All,

I have a few generic questions in my quest for deciding why MBS and other related FAQs.

I would like to request anyone who has already been admitted or even who are currently applying and have done thorough research on MBS and on Germany to please share his/her experience on the below questions. Any alumni or current student active on this forum please? I am sure many other prospective applicants like myself would have similar questions. Would be helpful for many of us.

Here are my questions:

- What are the reasons for choosing Germany as an MBA destination?

- What are the reasons for choosing MBS?

- The school website mentions that living expenses in Mannheim per month would average around €1000. Considering 6 months of buffer time to land a job, I am preparing for 18 months of expenses. So considering that, the estimate comes to about €55k. Is that a safe estimate to be preparing for, or should I allow more buffer?

- How is the RoI at MBS? What is the usual repayment period? I am dependent on student loans for almost about 60-65% of the entire expense (tuition + personal expenses). Is it a risky investment, to be replying on student loans for about 65% of the expense?

- How is the job market in Germany currently? I understand that Germany is the strongest economy in Europe at the moment, but is it strong enough to land a similar post-MBA role that one can expect in US or Canada or Singapore?

- How practically feasible is it to learn German over the course of MBA? From my interaction with non-German speaking students and alumni, I gathered that learning German during the program is extremely difficult and is not very practically feasible.

- What do German employers value and require the most? An MBS degree, or German skills or pre-MBA relevant work experience? If it is the last 2, how does an MBA from MBS makes one competitive in the German job market?

- Do most students who prefer to work in Germany find some sort of employment in Germany? I want to know historical data about approximately what % of graduates annually want to find employment in Germany, but fail to do so and have to return back to their home countries?

- What is the international recognition of the program? The question basically can also be read as what options do graduates have if they fail to find employment in Germany? Do employers outside of Germany value and recognise an MBA from MBS?

- I have heard that German employers value specialised education more than they value an MBA. How much of a factor does this play in finding decent post-MBA roles?

- How strong is MBS's reputation in placing students in the Technology industry? What kind of roles do usually graduates land immediately after graduation in the Technology Industry?

- How much can MBS graduates practically expect to earn after graduation? It is hard to find that sort of information readily available on public domain. Is it fair to expect in the range of €50-55K in the Technology Industry?

- How much should be the average repayment period with about 70% loan and about €50K salary? Is there any reference or website that I can refer that lists out average cost of living in Germany for both singles and families?

My experience was to develop a case study and talk about it in the final interview, neither written material for the case or video essay was necessary for the application.

Hey cristianhoger - How are you doing? I saw in a previous post that you have an admit from Mannheim. Are you matriculating yet? Have you made the token payment to reserve your seat?

On a sidenote, can you speak German? And if not, are you confident that you can reach B2 level in German over the course of MBA. Have you started German training? I suppose 1 year is too less a time and the MBA is too intense a program to learn German when at MBS. Since finding jobs in Germany is directly linked to German, I am considering this option very seriously.

Also, are you considering the message that Europe is in right now? I am factoring that in my decision as well. Would love to hear your thoughts.
