Application submitted on 27 October 2016, 22:15.

I sent the following query to the admission committee on 23rd November:
"
The application status on the online portal says "Application Completed."

I know that the process time is 6-8 at weeks, but I have seen some applicants getting a call in a week or two.

My question is: what does "Application Completed" mean? Does it mean that the ad com is still reviewing my app and has not reached a decision or does it mean that I was not shortlisted for an interview and the application process is over?
"

Received the following reply the next day:

"
Thanks for your email.

Application completed means that we have received all your documents.

Please give us some time to assess your application.

We will touch base with you when a decision has been made.

Congratulation guys! All the best for your future.

I was getting some jitters, so thought of reaching out to the people who have gone through the process.

1) I'm an international candidate, so can I just upload the scanned copy of original transcripts and later on if I get admitted, could send over the original docs by mail-post as well.
2)Would be great if anyone could PM the set of recommendation questions, would be a great for me to help chose my recommendors.

Thanks a lot guys! Really appreciate your help. :)

Guys, 1 quick question-
Are the application deadline and the date by which the referee report should be submitted different?? My referee has just informed me that in the mail from NUS, he has been asked to submit the referral by 10th Dec (when the application deadline is 31st Jan).

What will happen if the referee report is not submitted by 10th Dec?

-Thanks!

I applied for the MBA program on 14-11-2016. Got a mail today stating that I have been placed under the waitlisted status.

They say that I'll get a decision before the end of Jan. I have a GMAT score of 670. 3.5 years work experience now in banking and manufacturing. Is there anything I can do now ?

Blast from the Past: Interview debriefs of previous NUS applicants

Got done with the interview. Lasted 20-25 mins. It didn't go as well as I'd hoped. For one, their net connection was weak so we had to shift to a telephonic interview after 2 mins into the interview. Also, they didn't ask me the "Why NUS?" question and I forgot to touch upon it :-(
The questions were:
*Walk me through...
*Goals
*Why MBA?
*How will you contribute to class?
*Scenario : a team member is not performing. What is your management style?
*Questions for them.

Hoping for the best.

I just got done with my interview with Marie. She said that I was one of the two candidates who would be pushed for the next round. It was very quick. The questions were very straightforward.
Here is the list of the questions.
1.) There are many candidates from India with high Gmat scores and great work profiles. What sets you apart?
2.) Name one current event that happened in Asia, and one outside of it
3.) Name three companies that have originated in Asia and have a global presence that are not from your industry.
4.) What locations and companies would you like to work for and why?
5.) Biggest achievement and failure.

Had my Skype interview couple of hours back with two adcoms. Questions were mainly targeted to my work and how will I get to my short-term goals-

Questions were as follows-
1. Tell me about yourself
2. Why Singapore?
3. What are your goals and how do you plan to achieve it?
4. Which technology leader would you like to invite to NUS and why? ( Had mentioned something about technology speaker series in my essays)
5. Why would a consulting firm take you?
6. Have you interacted with anyone in your target firms?
7. How are you different from just another IT guy? Your unique selling point?
8. Tell me about a project in detail which you guided to completion.
9. Why is there a demand of the work you do?
10. Any questions from us?

That's about it. The interview lasted for about 20-22 minutes and I got disconnected for a couple of times and one of the interviewer was quite displeased by this for which I apologized but I am sure this left a bad impression on her. All the best to others who have their interviews scheduled. Hope this helps.

Done with my interview. It was f2f at NUS

The questions were pretty straight forward
1. 5 mins intro
2. Why MBA
3. Why NUS
4. Why Full time/Part Time
5. Dream company after MBA
6. Impact of China's economy on Singapore
7. Any question

Though it went quite well, I am not very hopeful

Preliminary Interview
M3sSiaH wrote:
Hi clubbers,

I just got to know something more about this preliminary interview from one of my friends, which has been haunting us since yesterday :o

So, Here is the thing: Pen, paper, and stopwatch are required as sometimes Chua Nan Sze, Marie Antonie gets into an extempore mode. She randomly gives a topic on which the candidate has two minutes to prepare and 3 minutes to speak - See, now pen, paper, and stopwatch make sense :P

Usually, she keeps the interview in non-extempore direction. But, it's always good to be prepared for the worst.

As far as routine interview prep is concerned, we need to prepare for cookie cutter questions such as run me through your resume, why MBA, why now, post MBA - short term and long term goals, why Singapore, why NUS, strengths, weakness, how will I contribute to NUS, why me, achievements etc.

All the best to all the invitees. Hope we make it difficult for her to reject any of us

It was quite an interesting interview taken by 1 ADCOM and 1 Alum.
Below are the questions asked. I may miss the order of one or two questions:

1. Asked about the last year's interview
2. Elevator pitch
3. Questions about my startup. Quiet a lot of them infact. Around 5 - 6 questions. How will you manage while your MBA. About market strategies, about products etc.
4. Questions about my extra curricualrs
5. Again questions about the startup
6. What has improved from the last application
7. My views on any international happening. Talked about Paris attacks.
8. My views about the role of media in the news.
9. Any business leader I would want to meet over a cup of coffee
10. Where would you like to work
11. Questions about GMAT.
12. Why should we take you in 3 sentences.
13. Any questions for us

In all the interview lasted for 35 - 40 minutes.

I have been waitlisted without an interview. Cannot help but feel that I have been politely rejected. Right, or am I too pessimistic?

Can you share your profile? 730 in GMAT and still wait-listed, ominous sign for me :(

Hi,

Nah, do not worry w.r.t to GMAT score only!! GMAT is just part of the application. Maybe the ad com did not like my essays and short/long term goals.

To help you out, the gray areas in my app:
1) I am currently a stay-at-home dad; people find it difficult to fathom that I willingly left my job to take care of my son and help my wife get back to work. Hence, not working since April-2016.
2) 82.6% - 10th and 75.8% - 12th.
3) I have a B.E. computers degree from a not so well known college.
4) 3.25 Lakh per annum starting CTC.
5) No outside help in writing my application.
6) Got only one award in my six years of work experience.
7) Very average extra-curricular till college.

I realized four years ago that I did not have the profile to go for a prestigious MBS course. More importantly, I was sure that I wanted to work as an s/w engineer then and had no reason to justify why MBA?

Hence, I worked on my profile and added a few things:
1. Scored 99 percentile - NIIT National IT Aptitude Test.
2. 730(V40, Q49) in GMAT.
3. Working as a volunteer in an NGO since December-2014.
4. Worked in 3 MNCs and a start-up, taking on some very challenging roles: from handling critical production issues to leading teams to develop new products from scratch and deliver them to market. Also got three promotions in between and no two following roles were similar. 67 months total work experience.
5. Increased my salary to 6 times the initial amount.
6. Worked on my interpersonal and communication skills, and genuinely started interacting and helping people going out of my comfort zone.
7. Developed strong debugging and analyzing skills that I employ in both my professional and personal lives.
8. Have a business idea as my long-term goal and thus looking to get an MBA to convert the same into a concrete business plan. Have the technical know-how to handle the technical aspects of the business in the initial days but feel the need for a professional course and exposure to the non-technical aspects of the business before moving ahead and starting my firm. Even the volunteer work that I am doing is related to my start-up idea and forces me to do things which I do not get to do in my professional life.
But the plan in its current state is too India-centric.

Hope the info helps you figure out where you stand.

Regards,
Rahul

Congratulations to all those who've had interviews already - good luck with the results. Fingers (and toes) crossed for you all!

As a fellow applicant has already requested above- Would any of you (who've submitted the app) be kind enough to share questions from the referee report for us to be able to have discussions with out recommenders?

I submitted my application on 10th November and its been over a month but no update on my application status yet.

I did ask the admissions team( team that always takes days to reply back) and they said that they are still in the middle of processing all the applications.

They have rolling admissions and they take over a month to process an application. :O

Anyone who can share some insight on this issue?
