Well you have a fantastic story. And the fact that you have invented a new material will definitely count for a lot, plus your story makes total sense - that you need some business knowledge in order to market your scientific knowledge. I think your ultimate success will depend a lot on how well you are able to convince the Adcom that your product is marketable, that you have a good business sense, and that you are ambitious and hard-working enough to make it. Getting a higher score on the GMAT is a great start, and it makes sense for you to apply to schools like Stanford and Haas on the West Coast. You can also try Southern California schools like USC and Anderson. And if you are willing to leave the West Coast, you have plenty more options.

So let us know how you do on that GMAT, and good luck!

My GMAT score just came out: 710 / writing 5.5 / IR 7. I think it is good enough. Currently, I am writing the essays for Stanford and Haas.
