E-mail from Regional Manager to Branch Managers
There is growing pressure in the state legislature for a bill mandating that employers provide paid sick leave for all fulltime employees. Although I recognize that people do get sick, sometimes too sick to come to work, I’m concerned about the possibility of employees abusing a sick leave policy. I can imagine people treating these days as additional vacation time and taking the days whether they’re sick or not, then getting sick later and looking for additional time off. I’m concerned about what that might cost us in terms of deadlines not met and overtime paid to other employees who pick up the slack.
