Official Explanation

Statement 1: A 9.7% increase in warranty repairs of Norseman washers means there were 1,321/1.097, or about 1,204 warranty repairs in 2014. So there was an increase of 1,321 – 1,204 = 117 warranty repairs in 2015. A 4% decrease in nonwarranty repairs means there were 12,011/0.96, or about 12,511 nonwarranty repairs in 2014. So there was a decrease of 12,511 – 12,011 = 500 nonwarranty repairs in 2015. Therefore, the total number of repairs was less overall.

Answer: False

Statement 2: A total of 16,882 LG washers and 16,074 LG dryers were repaired.

Answer: True

Statement 3: Based on nonwarranty repairs, the highest-ranking appliance is the Norseman refrigerator and the lowest-ranking appliance is the overmaid dryer.

Answer: False

Additional Statement: KitchenAid stoves rank higher in both warranty repairs and nonwarranty repairs than LG stoves, so more KitchenAid stoves were repaired overall.

Answer: True

Statement 3 isn’t the lowest rank Ovenmaid Dryer?

Hi Sajjad,
This question is rated quite high (700), although, I took 3 mins to do this problem but I still feel that the question was easy to grasp. Some of the medium-level questions I saw in OG focus edition are more challenging than this. So if we go by those standards this question would fall in the easy category on the OG. Can you please address this discrepancy?

There is no discrepancy; the statistics of the question indicate that the question is hard. If you think you can grasp it easily, this is good, but this might not be the case with everyone else. A question perceived as easy by someone could be hard for someone else. The difficulty level is generic and based on the average of the stats of the test takers.

No where in the entire question it is stated that this table is for 2015 or 2014. Incomplete question.

Please let me know if I am missing anything

hey so I totally agree with the answers, but nowhere it is stated that the data is of 2014 or 2015, so making an assumption is ok for these questions? Like it can also be a trick questions in the way if we pay attention to detail right?

Hi dushyantshukla

Hope you still have this doubt.... but the link

https://gmatclub.com/forum/the-table-gives-information-on-the-total-returns-in-2012-and-the-total-419649.html

a similar problem can help you solve this

Though it is not provided in the question that data doesn't belong to 2015

Just by observing we can understand that data belongs to 2015 & we have percentage changes from 2014

-it's Satvik-
I was here, I was solving & I was learning
