In the first term the power is odd; therefore the value is +5
In the second term the power is ever;therefore the value is -8
That gives the answer -2

-5(-1) -8(1)+1 = -2

Correct Answer is C

f(x)=−5x^197−8x^248+1; f(-1) = ?

f(-1) = -5 (-1)^197 - 8 (-1)^248 +1
= -5 (-1) - 8 (1) +1
= -2

Hence C
A) -16,251
B) -12
C) -2
D) 14
E) 16,251

\(f(x)=-5x^{197}-8x^{248}+1\)
we have to find value for f(-1)
\(-5(-1)^{197}-8(-1)^{248}+1=5-8+1=-2\)
correct answer option C
