The following graph shows the number of injuries and illnesses a corporation reported per 100 full-time workers from 2003 to 2011. The solid line is the regression line for the data. Hi there, Can anyone help me understand how -0.1875 is the correct answer for the second question? Thank you
Official Explanation
2. The average rate of change in injury and illness reports over the years from 2003 to 2011 was approximately _________ cases per 100 workers per year.
The average rate of change in injury and illness reports is the slope of the dotted line. Calculate this as the difference in cases reported divided by the number of years: \(\frac{3.5-5}{8} = \frac{-1.5}{8} = -0.1875\) case per 100 workers per year.

Thank you for this quick answer. I have been mixed with this sentence in the prompt " the dotted line connects the points for 2003 and 2011; it represents the average rate of change in reported injuries and illness over the eight-year period ".
I had a hard time understanding question 2, which asks the average rate of change over the years 2003 and 2011, when the prompt indicates that the data points are the average rate of change for each year. Perhaps the question would have been clearer if it had asked for the average rate of change over the years 2003 and 2011 ?
