Just came back to my apartment to find ... the admissions package (a welcome notebook)! Apparently it arrived via USPS. As expected - no funding mentioned. The total expected expenses (direct and indirect) for the 2010-11 school year - $72,384.

Also, R2 deposits due May 1.

Congrats to everyone and good luck to everyone on the wait list!

I agree - 72k a year sounds like a lot. I know it's not a new number, but admittedly the majority of my focus during applications was on getting admitted (not paying for it) - and that's on me, not the program.

According to the welcome packet:

Quote:
All Georgetown MBA program applicants are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship as part of the admissions process. Scholarship notification is included in your decision letter. If your offer letter is silent with regard to scholarship, the Admissions Committee was unfortunately unable to provide you with a merit-based scholarship.

Scholarship awards are renewable for your second year of study as long as you maintain good academic standing.... New scholarships are not awarded in year two.

That section also notes that students are encouraged to look for scholarships from external sources. There is a bit more info on loans too - although I'm not sure how the process differs for international students.

@saritalr: Thanks for the quick reply.

Agreed... all my focus was on applications.. and plus, for scholarships I should have applied in R1.

I am yet to receive my welcome packet... Will go through it carefully once I receive it.
Meanwhile if you have any info about external scholarships for Indian student in US do let me know :)
Really hope something works out.

It appears very few have been given scholarship in Round 2 :( .
Only VLM and calisnoopy have reported scholarships.

Would like to know whether there is any scope for GA or RA at Gtown and whether the information is provided in the Welcome binder. Otherwise it is definitely going to be very difficult financing the MBA, specially for internationals, who do not have the option of loans without co-signers...

International Students (Non-US Citizens)

The Office of Student Financial Services attempts to assist qualified applicants who have financial eligibility to meet their educational and living costs. International students may also be eligible for financial support from the government of their home country or other agencies, but they are not eligible for federal funding from the US. For information on funding for international students, please go to the International Student Resource page at https://finaid.georgetown.edu/internat.htm

Maybe also call/email Student Financial Services (202) 687-4547, to get suggestions about possible funding alternatives? I'm sure they have experience working with Intl. students.
