distance travelled by Car x before y starts =40*18/60=12 miles
distance extra travelled by Y = 23
Total relative distance 23+12=35
total relative speed 54-40 (same direction)=14miles/hr
so time required to cover =35/14 hr =5/2hr
2 hr and 30 mins
150mins
Answer E

54z-23=40(z+.3)
z=2.5 hours=150 minutes
