Dropping faster than any other country's, the projected decline of the United States’ home values is --- the projected decline dropped faster? Incorrect modifier usage. ELIMINATED
The home values in the United States are dropping faster than those in any other country and are projected to decline by -- idiom X and Y . X and Y are logically balanced. CORRECT
Dropping faster than any other country, the United States’ home values have a projected decline of ---have. Rejected decline... Wordy.. ELIMINATED
The home values in the United States are dropping faster than any other country, and they have a projected decline at --did someone gives target for decline?Meaning error. ELIMINATED
The United States’ home values are dropping faster than those in any other country, with a projected decline at--- ELIMIATED. Same reason as in option D

Thus Option B

Kudos if you like !!

In E dropping faster than any other country's home values ... would be correct ? instead of dropping faster than those in any other country ? I personally think that both the structures are parallel. Can someone elaborate ?

Hi,

"Decline by" is the correct idiom rather than "decline at" because the value is depreciating and going down...

Also the "United States`Home values" that is the possessive form is unnecessary here.

Alternatively the parallel form will be "United States` Home values" with "some country's home values"

Hi All,

can someone explain why answer choice B is wrong?

IMO "Dropping faster than any other country", seems to modify "the United States’ home values" which is logically right.

a. Dropping faster than any other country's, the projected decline of the United States’ home values is

What is dropping? It the the "HOME VALUES" and not "THE PROJECTED "DECLINE".

Also, IMO the modifier, "Dropping faster than...., is itself incorrect.

b. The home values in the United States are dropping faster than those in any other country and are projected to decline by

c. Dropping faster than any other country, the United States’ home values have a projected decline of

Wrong comparison between " ANY OTHER COUNTRY" and "THE U.S's HOME VALUES"

d. The home values in the United States are dropping faster than any other country, and they have a projected decline at

Wrong comparison between " ANY OTHER COUNTRY" and "THE U.S's HOME VALUES"

Also, "decline at" is not making better sense here in comparison to "decline by"

e. The United States’ home values are dropping faster than those in any other country, with a projected decline at

Wrong comparison : The U.S's home values......than those ("The U.S's home values") in any other country....

Also, "decline at" is not making better sense here in comparison to "decline by"
