OE

Split #1: The subject is simply “every elemental metal,” singular. The word “including” begins an additive phrase that is not part of the subject. The subject is singular, so the verb must be singular. Choices (A) and (C) are incorrect.

Split #2: the words “able” and “ability” idiomatically take the infinitive. The structures “able to” or “ability to” are correct, and “able for” and “ability for” are always 100% incorrect. Choices (B) and (E) are incorrect.

Choice (D) is the only possible answer.

The subject here is singular "every elemental metal " so we have to use singular verb .
Able to is the correct idiom .

At 4.24 PM, you gave the problem and then at 4.25 PM, you gave the OA and OE also. Where is the opportunity for a discussion?
My humble suggestion is to wait for a few postings, before you reveal the OA or OE.

Most important split here in my opinion, tests the following rule:

subject and verb must agree in number

Remember that:

Each or every requires a singular verb form. For example, Every dog has paws, Each of these shirts is pretty.

Every elemental metal, including the Lanthanides and radioactive Actinides, have the ability to combine with oxygen to form an oxide

Since the subject is preceded by each or every, the subject is considered singular. This sentence breaks that rule. The rest is.... if you have any questions PM.

Every always goes with singular noun. Metal = singular. Therefore we require a singular verb. Elim (A) and (C)

"Ability to" is correct. "ability for" is idiomatically incorrect.

Therefore D
