Hi,

I've solved OG 2018 RC questions. I found that I'm getting stuck on 3 very specific types:

1. Inference questions
2. Refer-to-passage questions with specific details which are used in a question stem
3. Function-of-lines questions. For example, what is the function of lines 10-12 in the paragraph?

How do I specifically improve on these question types?

Hi Varun258,

From what you describe, you're having trouble with almost everything RC-related, but it's not clear whether that's the only area that you need to work on or not. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi,

Thanks for replying. Actually, the 2nd and 3rd options are not too much of a problem. It is basically the Inference questions which pose a problem to me. I'm following the Manhattan Guides, and I've solved the Official Guide for 2018, RC only. This is just the first phase of my prep. My aim is the 99th percentile(my GPA is a bit low). I'm making good progress. I'd think that fixing the Inference issue will improve my score quite a bit. Out of the last 12 mistakes, 7 were inference. The others were a 'main purpose of the passage' type, and 1 was a 'structure of passage' type. My overall accuracy is exactly 90% on RC right now.

Hi Varun258,

Assuming that you want a 99th percentile overall Score (re: 760+), then you're going to have to perform at a high level on every major question type on the GMAT. From your prior messages, it's not clear how you've been studying, so it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used besides the books that you mentioned?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
