given 13.5/((1/x)−1.1)=−10
==> 13.5x/(1-1.1x)=−10
==> 13.5x = −10+11x
==> 13.5x-11x = -10
==> 2.5x = -10
==> x= -10/2.5
==> x= -4

Went through several thoughts, before realizing, a simple way to find the solution.

First, the result of the equations is "-10":

So when you look at the answers D, & E will result in a positive solution, can eliminate.

B & C,

plug in 2 or negative 2, and it will give you ".5 - 1.1" or -.5-1.1, which is not going to result in - 10 ( I did not complete the math), so only leaves answer choice A.

I'm going to piggy back off of your solution.

You can also realize that for $$\frac{13.5}{((1/x)-1.1)}$$ to equal a negative, the term $$\frac{1}{x}-1.1$$ must be < 0.

Thus, $$\frac{1}{x} < 1.1$$ where you can eliminate C, D and E.
