Stat 1: When rounded to nearest thousandths digit, m = 0.575...i.e from given information 0.57x8...if x has to be 5...then it's previous value is 4...because number in the ten thousands place is 8 which is greater than 5...then we'll add 1 to the preceding number.

Sufficient..

Stat 2: when m = 0.57 then thousands value can be 0,1,2,3 or 4...if it is above 5 then we'll add one to the preceding number...Insufficient.

IMO option A.

(1) says that 0.57x8 approximated to the nearest thousandths digit is 0.575
considering that the digit before x is 8, this approximation will make the thousandths digit 1 unit grater than x

====> $$(x+1)=x$$ ====> $$x=5-1=4$$

1 is sufficient

Since the digit to the right of x is 8, it means that x is rounded up. Since x is rounded up to 5, x has to be 4. Therefore, A
