Let the money with Jim, Greg and Nick be J,G and N respectively.

Statement 1:

J=2G and N=6G

So, G+J+N = G+2G+6G = 54

Solve for G and we can also solve for J.

Hence, sufficient.

Statement 2:

J+G= 0.5N

J+G+N=0.5N+N=1.5N = 54

We will get J+G but cannot say only about J.

Insufficient.
