Is ab < a?

(1) a = 0. Then, ab = 0.
Hence, ab = a. Sufficient.

(2) b = 0.
Suppose, a = 5. Then ab = 0 < a.

Again, suppose a = -5.
Then ab = 0 > a.
Hence, Insufficient.

Is $$ab < a$$?

Rearrange:

$$ab-a< 0$$

$$a(b-1)< 0$$

(1) $$a = 0$$

If a= 0.......then it is always will be 0 <0......Answer is No

Sufficient

(2) $$b = 0$$

If b=0.....then but no info about a

Insufficient
