Is q a negative number?

(1) -4q is a negative number.

(2) -q is a negative number.

the answer is D.
Negative * negative = positive
negative * positive = negative

1. -4 (negative) * q = negative.
it means that q is positive. sufficient.

2. it can be rewritten as -1 * q = negative
q must be positive.

We can counter statement 2 right.

Given, -q is a negative no.

So it could be
-1*q = -q or 1*-q= -q { here q could be -ve and +ve; am I right } so isn't the correct answer A
